Default OWB Holster Recommendation for 686+ 4"

Hello, all, I'm hoping for some assistance in locating some options for this carry arrangement. OWB at 3 or 4 o-clock. The Milt Sparks 200AW is pretty much what I'm looking for but it's pricey and who knows how long the lead times are. Tucker Gunleather also makes the HF3 with a 4 month lead time. Galco makes the Phoenix, but I am not impressed with the construction of their products. Maybe there are some other boutique holster makers you know of that you might suggest?

Looks like Lobo Gunleather has some interesting options.

There are several members here who make holsters. Bamabiker Greg Sanders has made me several very nice holsters.

Sparks lead-time is currently in the 6-month range. The 200AW is good stuff and worth the wait.

That said, I’d also recommend checking out Barranti Leather’s site - they have quite a few options with most products recently running about a month turn-around.

I also use an old DeSantis Speed Scabbard, a stock holster still for sale. Works great with this 4-inch N-frame. The Kramer Belt Scabbard has virtually identical features and is available in horsehide. Kramer’s current lead-time appears to be three months or so. I think the DeSantis can be had with immediate availability.

200AW for a 5-inch N-frame also shown just for fun.

Happy hunting on the search!

Thanks for your help! I have a Kramer horsehide for my 1911 but I'm looking for a different style. The DeSantis is actually in stock and reasonably priced. But I really like the Barranti Hank Sloan. I'm going to give them a call.

Hey, you’re welcome and I bet you’ll find one you like with them. I really like how on many of their holsters (both OWB and IWB), Barranti offers a belt-loop cut-out option that makes placement a good bit easier.

Excuse me in advance for suggesting something "off the rack" but I picked up one of these while waiting for a more expensive order to be completed. I have to say, it sees a lot of use even now. I bought it for my 4" 581, but also use if for a 4" Python. They occasionally get down to about $50.

Might make a good interim.... just a thought.

I like the Don Hume H721 holster for my Model 19 4". I'm sure you'll find it will work just a well with your 686 4".

I waited about 5 weeks for it to be custom made at the facility in Oklahoma. If they have one in stock, you'd probably get it in less than 10 days. The price is right too.

I like the Hume 721 but currently more in favor of Simply Rugged Sough Dough pancake. Also have a few nice pieces from ElPaso Saddelry and one from Mernikle. The Bianchi Cyclone 111 makes a good hunting holster IMO.
