Default Red Head

Does anyone know what era this stamp was used? It's on a rifle case.

Bass Pro Shops/Cabelas owns the brand now.

Once upon a time there was a Red Head clothing factory in Cambridge, MD. Long gone now.

I’d guess 1940’s - 70’s.
A quick google search seems to indicate that their logo changed between the 1920’s and the 40’s.

I know who it belongs to and I know that it is a Sporting Goods brand. I should have said during what time period this particular stamp was used. Trying to date some leather, same as you would do on Lawrence, Heiser, etc..

I have seen those and through searches it seems that there were several used throughout the years for clothing/hats but I haven't been able to find anything on leather. To me that is unusual since Red Head was a popular brand and so many leather items are out there.

Here’s the cover of a 1939 catalog of their leather goods. As the logo on your rifle case doesn't have the Fits The Sport tag line I would guess it might be a later imprint.

Regards,

Regards,
Thanks for the information..does this catalog have a rifle scabbard with a part number of 551 and if so is it for lever actions?

If you are interested, vintagehaberdashers dot com has a pretty good write up on history of Red Head including a chronology of the different tags. Unfortunately the stamp used on the leather does not resemble any of these tags. It's also interesting that the tags that were used for the clothing do not include Chicago in the verbage whereas the leather stamp does.

Just found this on a hard leather shotgun case, it appears that there was a stamp for leather products that says "Fits the Sport".

There are no scabbards or cases in the catalog, just holsters & belts.
This is the only Redhead holster catalog I’ve run across. They made holsters for a lot of retailers.
Regards,
