S&W holsters.. seeking information
I have these two old S&W leather holsters. Recently emailed S&W directly and they said the holsters were made about 45 years ago on Stevens Street in Springfield Mass at the Smith and Wesson Leather Company. Any idea what would of connected to the metal snaps? Any idea on rarity or value? Are the stamped numbers, the models they were made to fit? Thank you

The Metal snap would attach a plate and leather covered attachment device. It is copied from a Bucheimer design which was quite popular in the 1960s. You can still use the holster on a belt but the holster will be lower on your belt without the plate and straps. I do not have a S&W holster like that but I should have a picture of a similar Bucheimer.

Note the catalog page is 1979. Indeed it was copied from the J.M. Bucheimer invention, patented, called the Semi-Shoulder Holster. The designer for both companies was the same man, Al "Kip" Kippen who was the inventor of the thumbsnap, and created the Hank Sloan holster for J.M.B. from Hank's patent.
The '24' is its model number' the '32' is the K frame M&P in 2".

I cannot find my picture but the plate and straps allow the holster to be carried high cross draw and the Bucheimer holsters were called Semi Shoulder holsters. Thanks RED

Kippen worked for Heiser, he left after WW II to start Colorado Saddlery as Red notes in Holstory.
Here is a Heiser Hi-Ride holster of his design.

FWIW, the one S&W size 32 holster I have had a tag noting 2” K frames, but a 3” fits well. That’s a 3” M64 in the B19 32 below.

Another for what it's worth: The first set of numbers is the holster model.
The second set is the size gun it was made to fit. John, your model 19
is made of Wessonhide. That is the model designation for Wessonhides.
