The few years that the U.S. Military used the Model 1909 Colt New Service .45 caliber revolver, what type holster was issued for the New Service ?

Thank you DWalt.
In the 1939 Gary Cooper movie "The Real Glory" the actors used strong side open top holsters with web cartridge belts. I was wondering if these holsters were GI issue or just "Hollywood.

I don’t know what belt and cartridge carrier would have been used with the M1909 Colt during Philippine service. I would expect a web belt and some kind of canvas pouch or leather cartridge box attached to the belt. A local museum has a M1909 revolver and holster on display, but no belt. That holster is in pretty sad shape but it looks like the replica holster.
I have two M1909s, but with replica flap holders.

For what it is worth, the only U.S. military holsters for revolvers that I can remember seeing had flaps.

Not a US holster. This is a Colt New Service that was used by the Royal North West Mounted Police with the original holster.

The butt forward half flap holster was pretty much US standard revolver holster from the late 1870s all they way through WW1.

The WWI photos I have seen show leather M1917 flap holsters worn on the right side with the revolver butt-forward, cavalry style. Replica M1917 holsters are available in both RH and LH configurations, but I do not know if authentic U.S. military M1909 and M1917 revolver holsters came both ways to accommodate Lefties. The two replica flap holsters I have are of superb quality, probably better made than the originals.
