1976 vintage Browning Hi Power. Greenish parkerized finish. I think this may be a “Classic “ model. I’ve upgraded to the Hi Power Mk3 sights. I also upgraded to a larger safety lever.

Several variants of the Smith & Wesson Military & Police Model (c. 1898), US Pistol Model of 1911, Fabrique Nacional Model of 1935, occasionally some really old Colts like the Bisley Model, SAA Model of 1873, original Model 1860 Army.
Of course, the old Colts are more in the line of historical artifacts than practical defensive handguns, and the first 3 above have remained in continuous production for 125, 112, and 88 years respectively, thus arguably not really "old school". Somewhere in one of the safes I have an old Harrington & Richardson top-break revolver that might qualify.

Well since the design dates to 1911 though the guns are newer............
A 1988 Colt Commander that had been customized a little-I changed a few things-a local shop bought in a group of 70 or so
Or my 1995 Les Baer PII
And once the weather cools to allow for a jacket on occassion it'll be my 1978ish 66-1-btw the grips were courtesy of our late member Thom Braxton.

Old School seems to be a sliding scale . Is any Revolver inherently Old School? Is it the date of introduction of particular gun or holster design , or the exact age of specific gun / holster ?
To date myself to a time window , I date to Revolver Era, but after Thumb Breaks were predominant. But even when I was young, I was into guns then older .
For specific guns , 1942 Victory , late 1920's Colt Government, late 1920s 3rd Mdl .44HE, 1937 dated Brazilian. For a while my Father's purchased new Flat Latch Bodyguard. Decided I preferred conventional hammer designs for holster options;, then a M37 no dash, and currently M36 no dash. Wife used to have a 1st Gen Colt Cobra . All time age based, was
38 S&W Hammerless Breaktop in pocket that was 113 years old .
Today's youngsters would probably consider late '70s 2in M10 , and early '80s 2in M64 to be Old School , likewise Speed Six and a couple '70s Security Sixes .
To the Polymer Striker generation;, a P225 or P-90 would be Old School.
For a long time , my go to was Roy Baker Magnolia AR Pancakes . But Alaa by this point in time they're priced as collectibles, dried out , or both . But I still prefer the original to any and all of the knockoffs .

This will be my "cold weather" carry. It is a 1916 Colt New Service that someone cut down to two inches. It is .45 Colt. Old school enough?

I have been carrying this one quite a bit lately. Partly because the holster makes it very comfortable to carry and I like the way it shoots.

As it has been said here..."old school" is kind of a relative term. My late grandfather used a S&W baby Russian top break in 38 S&W caliber up until the 1980s. He loaded only 4 rounds, empty chamber under the hammer. He was a practicing attorney until age 89 and kept it in his desk drawer in his law office. The ammunition (He still had the original box) was newer...it was made in the 30s. He started his practice in the 1920s.
He also had a 1903 Colt 32 auto made in 1905. He gave that new fangled contraption to my late uncle years ago, preferring the "old school" revolver. He knew of firearm advances and could have had any gun he wanted. He was a very pragmatic man. The top-break was a well made gun that would handle any reason he thought he would need a gun. It was likely more of a confidence booster than a gunfighting tool.
Nonetheless, too old school for me!

Within the last month I bought a model 10-5 snub nose. I’ve been carrying it since I got it. I’m really surprised by how easy it is to carry.

Sometimes old school, sometimes new school. Horses for courses, as our English friends say.

When I was a LEO and restricted to revolvers I would carry either a Colt Detective Special or Cobra...the Cobra more often. Once we could carry a self-loader I would carry a Colt Lightweight Commander.
I rarely carry anymore but I would likely carry either my S&W CSX or Colt Defender. I'm comfortable with single-action pistols and have the most experience with them. But if I decided to pull the Cobra out I would not feel underarmed with it.

Everytime we are back in Mexico, if we leave the gated community where my brother-in-law lives, I carry my old Model 49 no dash that former U.S. Consul Phil Maher got for me back in 1993. I use the same Bianchi Pocket Holster I used back in the day, and the same hefty load of Bullseye under a Lee 160 grain tumble-lubed SWC.
I miss Mexico and I miss Phil Maher. The sunglasses were an 99.00 Peso addition to the set last Februay. That's like 5.00 dollars U.S. . I was in a local Farmacia Guadalahara trying on sunglasses and looking at myself in the little mirror on top of the rack. Two bored clerks were watching me, leaning on the back counter. I'd try on some sunglasses, and look at them quizzically. They'd shake their heads, or make a face or give me a thumbs down and I'd try another pair. Then I hit these. "Y estos?" I asked.
"Pareces como el Patrulla de Caminos" said one of them, in a thoroughly bored voice. Translation: "You look like the Highway Patrol." Now, that's salesmanship. I bought 'em.

I don’t know you, but pound for pound you have the best posts on this forum.
I still laugh about the one you did which included this (paraphrased): Of course being Mexico, there was a midget present.

It doesn't get much more old school than a 1911.

Thank you. The gun forums in Canada have nothing over this forum. I have not written much on here since I moved out of Mexico, but now that the wife and I are seriously working on moving back to Mexico, it's time to get a little more active back on this forum as well. It's like coming home, either way. It feels good here, just like the old days.
The Post you are remembering was in this thread here. I remember it well, I wasn't even trying to be funny. It just "was what it was".
Do ANY police departments today still issue the .38 Spl. Model 10?

I work part time at a gun shop/range. I carry revolvers frequently there. It’s considered “old school.” But with maybe 10 guys and gals open carrying, it’s more for display and deterrence than real world. And since I like revolvers, it’s fun.
I still carry revolvers on occasion “real world,” but my go to is either a P365 or P365x.
Hunting I carry a revolver if I’m carrying a handgun.

I sometimes carry a snubby although it may be considered "new school". It is a Taurus 605 Poly Protector in .357. So it has a partial polymer frame and a fiber-optic front sight.

This snub 25-2 comes out when the weather allows. This was prior to a range session, otherwise the clips would be loaded with hollow points. The regular speed loader rig holds two per slot, so doesn’t give up much to the automatic.

My carry revolvers include a three-inch Model 60, both two- and three-inch Cobras, and both two- and three-inch Undercovers. Some older autos include Remington 51, Sauer 38H, Mauser HSC, and AMT Back-UP - all .380s.
