I’m devising new belt and holster system that will employ the same belt and a small number of holsters. The holsters just being for models and barrel lengths that I normally would carry. I thought the ultimate holster would be the Bianchi 2AL, simple field holster for 1911 Govt, lined. Fooled me out of the four pistols I wanted to carry only the 1911 fit. Of the 4 similar size pistols the one I will carry most is the m41/ 5” field barrel. So I saw a #89L
Bianchi also stamped for S&W M41. Just got it this AM and am pleasantly surprised it fits all four. M41 5.5”HB, M41 5”FB, M52 and Colt 1911. Holster is fitted for the 5.5”HB and it is the tightest fit
Have good lined holsters for K-6”, N-6”and generic 4” 22 pistols.
Still have bushels of holsters hoarded over the years to deal off.
Now to concentrate on 3 that I need for SAs, and couple for odd balls.
I have already scrounged up mag pouches for the autos. Everything in just natural leather.

Check out the $25 Barsony Slide holster on ebay. I git one for a 1911 I had, but it also works for Glocks, J-frames, and a CSX!

In my experience, multi-fit holsters are often a jack of all trades, master of none deal. There are some exceptions. Holsters for the Browning Hi-Power are often an almost perfect fit for Commander size 1911's. Holsters for the Beretta 92 often fit CZ-75/clones and S&W 645/45xx/10xx pistols quite well. Glock 19 holsters usually do "ok" with S&W 69xx pistols.

You will find the #89L for S&W 41 fits the 4 pistols pictured very well. I think it might do a Browning HP too. Don’t have one to try, mine is the 6” comp. I just want nice lined holster for field use. I don’t generally get involved in fast draw shoot outs. Want secure fit, a protection for gun and on 3” belt the weight is distributed evenly.

You've done well :-) and only got jumped on because of the 'multifit' phrase which itself sets off the 'custom holster' acolytes. The 89L (I did the engineering of all holsters for Bianchi 1970-90) will only reject the German pistols of the day; i.e., that super wide slide and huge guard of the P-38, and the odd shape of the P-08. For those pistols the Bianchi 88 was the go for our consumers and not ever made in lined versions; very much in the style of the Myres 'Threepersons' for autos (not that we knew that then).

I’m in agreement with you and the one exception I’ve found to be quite excellent is the Galco Yaqui slide. It works quite well with a variety of semiautomatic pistols.

Sig P226 and a 5906 with square trigger guards.

Of the 3 Bianchi holsters of which 2 are exclusively for 1911s the 89L S&W m41 is better holster for my purpose. Holster on Left is the 2AL for 1911. The middle is the 89L for 5.5” m41. It fits all 4 pistols and leaves trigger exposed. Even will do cock & lock mode. Holster on Right is a 19L which is also a nice semi CCW but only fits 1911.
There are all kinds of slides and hammer hanger types that will fit most anything you can stuff in them. This type holster has very little use as field holster.
