A not-so handsome holster
It's very rare for me to start a thread on holster forums any more, but my blog doesn't have the facility to received reader contributions (and for good reason!).
But seeing this Lawrence holster on an auction site I couldn't help compare this Walther PPK holster for looks and function, with, say, a Seventrees of the same vintage (I don't have the backside view but many of other pistols' fitments).
Any other contenders for, well, I'll just come right out and say it, 'ugly' holsters? Post your pics here :-).

Aesthetically speaking, that is perhaps one step above a Tandy Leather kit holster.

For leather holsters coming from a maker with a great historical name - many of the late Alfonso holsters strike me as ugly, mutated abominations.
That Lawrence holster, although leather instead of skeleton metal, made me think of the Mannix TV holster.

Since we are talking appearance, an 'ugly/awkward' nomination requires pictures!

maybe uglier, then the red color doesn't help, it looks like a sausage.

I don’t have any pictures, but I offer my thought that any holster made of fine leather but dyed black qualifies as ugly, regardless of design and workmanship. And a red one pips black for the top of the list.
Black dyed leather is like painting a beautiful piece of wood.

Years ago, I had a custom leather IWB holster made to my specs. Since then, if I get a gun that I decide I want to carry, I make my own. The style works for me, and I am not concerned about looks, so I can't see spending the money for an accomplished maker to pretty things up for me. This is the latest one that has yet to have a final fit and trim of the leather and the belt stays.
With all of that said, I submit my own ugly black leather holster.

It's not gunleather so not IMHO a 'holster'. But this one from Safariland I only recently noticed and I would call it Elephant Man:

While I prefer tan or brown holsters I don’t think all black holsters are ugly.
Regards,

Thompson Holster
I'm not sure that this Thompson Northridge holster qualifies as ugly, but I do find it to be unusual, as are some of the other Thompsons I have encountered.
(I try not to acquire too many ugly holsters.)

Black shoes require a black belt and a black holster.
Brown shoes require a brown belt and a brown holster.
Cordovan shoes . . . well you get the drift.

If beauty is in the eye of the beholder (think grey rhinos mating) then I expect ugly is, too. I have a large collection of images of the Thompson range of gunleather that was called Stagecoach. Perhaps I'll make a 'catalogue' of them in a post on my blog. Thompson was a former VP of Bucheimer-Clark and he opened his own operation when B-C was sold with J.M. Bucheimer to Tandy end of the'60s. His holster designer likely was Earl Clark with Ed Clark (Jr) focusing on the Tandy ops; virtually all of Thompson's range (he died straightaway) was adopted by the Bucheimer companies into their ranges.
Image is 1972 and the only known print material for Thompson ever. No catalogues are known.

Here one you most likely haven’t seen.
For one thing I’m not sure how many holsters these guys ever actually made.
Made by the Smith Bros of Colorado for my Model 39.
