Default Looking for shoulder holster -

Not quite the James Bond type, but it is minimal in that there is a holster on the left and your right arm goes through an elastic loop - no magazine holders.

Any leads on companies that make this would be appreciated.

I have used De Santos many times as a Detective and it would be my go to still if I wanted to shoulder holster carry.

I have found I use Kydex IWB holsters now because of the telegraphing or movement it takes to draw from a shoulder holster.

Might I ask why the interest in a shoulder holster?

What I believe you are referring to is sometimes called a half-harness holster? Those are the only type I use because I actually wear them under a shirt, so there is no belt to attach the vertical straps to.

Sir , Please do not purchase a shoulder holster that points barrel to the back.
In IRAQ many of our aviators wore shoulder holsters . Some pointed barrel to rear when holstered, some pointed down. One guy who had holster that pointed barrel back , had accidental discharge that killed guy behind him.
The deceased was one of his best friends in the squadron. CO ordered all those holsters sent home. I have shoulder holsters for every caliber from .38 special to .45 ACP. I always get holsters that point barrel down.

I wish Bianchi had not discontinued their 9R as in the picture above. I always liked that holster.

Have 2 Jack Asses, one original for 1911 the other for J frame. One can adjust them any way one wants. 1911 has opposite side mag. holder and J frame holds 2 speed loaders. Wear over a tee shirt under a Hawaiian style shirt with no problems.

I believe Bianchi still makes them ... it was called the X-15 ...
Another was called The Agent !
Check them out at thier web site ... I'm not sure if this is the right link ...but try it Leather Holsters for Concealed & Open Carry | Bianchi
If the link isn't right search the term Bianchi Holsters and that should get you to the site .

I have always liked Bianchi Holsters ... Five Star Rating .

Sorry, neither the X15 nor Agent is like the 9R. Safariland made a similar holster to the 9R except instead of a metal spring clip inside the holster they used a streach piece of elastic to keep the firearm secure.

Wow, that's not good.
That sounds more like a "negligent" discharge though or how did the pistol go off completely on its own?

I did not conduct the investigation. I flew in next day.
Someone or something snagged the trigger.

I’ve had several horizontal shoulder holsters, none of them had an exposed trigger. I’ve never seen a modern shoulder holster that had an exposed trigger. I don’t know what happened in Claymore33 scenario, but it doesn’t have any relevance to normal modern holsters.

I love my "Miami" style rigs. they get used a lot in the winter months. Always felt weird with the muzzle direction to me though, but safe enough they sell a gazillion of them I guess? Negligence can overcome any safe guard too.

Mitch Rosen’s ESP (Executive Special) might fit your needs.

Shoulder Holsters | Mitch Rosen Extraordinary Gunleather

(I have zero experience with this product)

I’ve been considering a shoulder holster for several reasons. With heavy clothes and multiple layers in winter it gets challenging to get to an IWB holster. I’ve tried a tanker style holster but it’s not well concealed and not all that comfortable sitting down. Another reason for a shoulder holster is ease of draw when sitting, especially in a car or other vehicle such as my side-by-side. With the rise of carjackings and street mobs this becomes more important to me.

My biggest concern with a shoulder holster is the potential to sweep myself and/or others while drawing the pistol. As someone already pointed out, a proper draw which gets your off-arm out of the way very clearly telegraphs that you are drawing a gun.

For a minimalist type take a look a K L Null's leather. While his normal one is plastic, he will make it in horsehide for those like me that have allergies. I have had one for years for my J frame and it is excellent, comfortable and absolutely doesn't show.

The elephant in the room is that only very small pistols are ideal for carry in any shoulder holster. Even today that means a j frame Smith or a Walther 380, and pistols with that same silhouette.

Yes there will always be folks on this forum and others who say they carried an 8-3/8" .44 Mag in one every day, in a shoulder holster. Of course it can be done but it's not 'ideal'. Too much weight and bulk for that.

Bond had it right. He alternated between the Smith and the Walther and could shrug his set on/off like a jacket, in any form of dress from Hawaiian shirt to tuxedo. The film holster is not at all what the fictional book character used (but let's not otherwise go down that rabbit hole). His holster was designed to avoid being tethered to the belt.

The actor displaying the Berns-Martin that he did NOT use in the film: the Berns-Martin "Triple Draw", and a cut from an Askins article with his own, published while the books were 'new'.

Carried a Model 64 2” in a Biachi X15 back in the day. Only shoulder shoulder I have ever used. It was nice and concealed the k frame nicely
