Default Some Drool Worthy Leather….To Me Anyway!

I saw this wonderful rig on eBay a while back and wanted to bring it up here, but couldn’t because of the rules. Now that it’s sold, and not to me, I thought I’d see what you folks thought about it. First off, I have NEVER owned a Berns-Martin holster. I came close a couple of years ago when I saw another beautiful floral carved one (holster only) online. Unfortunately for me, it had a BIN price that was a bargain, and as the old saying goes, “You snooze, you lose!”. In the few minutes that I was looking it over, it sold!

When I saw this one, it had me drooling. I had never even seen a Berns-Martin floral carved rig before! Also, when I think of a buscadero rig, I think of a Colt SAA and the old western shows on TV. I don’t think I ever saw an old cowboy wearing a floral carved Berns-Martin! As much as I liked it, I didn’t pull the trigger. If it had been made for a 3 1/2” N frame, and had .38 caliber ammo loops, I would have jumped on it. I wanted to see what you folks thought about it, and if you have any Berns-Martin leather to show us, please feel free to do so.
Larry

I never owned a Berns-Martin holster, I guess because they don't say old west cowboy when I look at one. But it does have nice carving.......................................M*

That rig is handsome! Love the carving and the color.
I found this flower carved Berns-Martin a year ago. Not as fancy as the one in your phots and no belt.

Tim, that holster is definitely NO slouch! In fact, when I had thought about finding one, that is more in line with what I was looking for. It’s a nice addition to your collection for sure.

Here’s one of 2 Berns-Martin Buscadero rigs I own. Both were made for the Georgia businessman who bought the company and moved it to Elberton Georgia. One of them was the last rig made in Calhoun City and the other is the first outfit made in Georgia, I have a letter from him stating that. He responded to an ad I ran in the Shotgun News and I ended up buying his collection of Berns-Martin gun leather. He was a shrewd businessman…

Regards,

I guess I am different than others. Although that is very fine craftsmanship, patterns on a leather holster is ugly to me. I like plain smooth leather. Also, those lines are just places for dirt to collect.

Fine craftsmanship for sure, but they don't look like gun holsters. To me they look more like gun pouches..............................................M*

I have a well worn carved Berns-Martin rig somewhere for a 6.5" N frame. Might have two holsters even, I forget. I'll have to hunt it up. The cord that it was stitched with has rotted and needs a complete rebuild.
I also have pristine uncarved holster for a 3.5" N frame that I purchased from turnerriver several years ago.
Regards,
Bruce

My other two are smooth finish. One for 2” M&P and one for J frame.

Regards,
John, definitely looks like a “kissing cousin” to the one I shared. That’s very cool that you were able to buy the collection of the owner of the company.
