Default Galco VHS 4.0

Considering a Galco VHS 4.0 vertical shoulder rig for my 686 6"

Anyone have one of these that would care to give an opinion?

Thanks!

I have an older Galco rig and love it.

Be sure to get the tie-downs if they're not included.

In my expert opinion, shoulder holsters are ideal only for small, light pistols such as the aluminium framed .38 revolvers and autos. James Bond was issued with both and the combo works.

Now, switching to the 1911 and up is risky (that you will be side heavy). Above that and it's just plain silly; a 6" and up is to be worn across the chest in a bandolier holster. Then you'll never know you have it on until you reach for the pistol.

This applies to another set of threads running about a shoulder holster for the 69 revolver. Large and heavy are the antithesis of shoulder holster lest you want to spend you life like this LAPD officer in the 1930s, when big .45s were de rigeur (changed immediately by LAPD proclamation to .38 (Special not specified):
