Holster for M41 w/ Field Bbl?
Anybody got one? If so, please post pix and maker info. Or, ideas on where I might look for one?
Was fortunate enough to recently acquire in the classifieds here a field barrel for my 1963 M41. The balance, the feel in the hand, as others here have noted, is very different from the 5.5 HB or long bbls, and very pleasing. While most don't think of the M41 as a gun to be holstered, a holster for this configuration makes a lotta sense to me.
So now I'm looking for a holster. As can be seen below, the profile for the 5" field barrel is much slimmer, lighter than the 5.5" heavy bbl.

My 41 field barrel fits pretty well in a Browning Hi Power Holster. Works good enough .

Iadwm, how about a pic? That is good to know. Don't have an HP any more to compare, but I would have guessed it would be kinda loose?

Got it.
Is the Bianchi marked for a field bbl? I've seen them for the 5.5" HB but maybe they made 'em for the field barrel as well. (Or, maybe the 5.5 HB is a reasonable fit for the 5" field bbl as well.)

The Bianchi No. 89L marked on its backside for S&W .22 auto was made in two sizes, the longest barrel and the shortest one was moulded to the heavy barrel.
I found them for sale using the Google search 'bianchi 89L s&w auto holster'.

The 89l is a darn fine holster
There is a nice Lawrence holster in the S&W Classifieds that would likely work with a 5", Good price too.

Thanks, fellas. The seller, THREEDFLYER, is the same fella I just bought the field bbl from. Excellent transaction! (Buy with confidence!) As he notes, though, the Lawrence is for the HB.
For the time being anyway, I am gonna hold out for a holster designed for a field bbl. In looking at past posts, there was a thread a few years back by a guy who had a Bianchi 89 for an M41 that would fit neither a 5.5" HB or, of course, the long bbl. Speculation was that it was likely for the field bbl.

Many years ago, I used a 41 with a field barrel and slimmed-down factory grips as a trail/small game gun. I carried it in an El Paso Saddlery copy
of the standard GI .45 flap holster, and that worked well. Hope this helps!
