Default Universal range holster

I just bought a M&P 57, and I was looking at holsters. I have always bought holsters that are pretty much made for my guns. While I will still probably buy a couple for this new one, one thing I am lacking is some type of good universal holster. What I want is a owb soft holster to go from my shooting table to where I am shooting. Also to reholster while someone else is shooting. This will be for when I am shooting at the farm. I always just hold the empty or loaded gun, but sometimes I need to set it down. It would be nice if I could just holster it. Anyway. I need it to fit the new Smith, a 92fs beretta, a PPQ, and a couple Dan Wessons. I don’t need it to fit all well, just safe not falling out, no fighting to get it in. It would also be nice if it clipped on, so it is easy to remove. I am sure there are plenty out there and I could just grab something on Amazon. But I wanted to see what people here like and use. Thanks

Well, I cannot comment on revolvers, but if your Dan Wesson’ are 1911 versions then ask bamabiker on th forum. Greg makes a nice holster that would fit what you are looking for

Thx, I have a few revolvers. I could put those in other holsters though, so I guess it wouldn’t have to fit both

For the usage you describe I’d get a lowly Uncle Mike’s large size. Brand new and you’ll get change back from a 20. I’ve seen them used for a few bucks.

+1!

Some soft nylon holsters will fit both Autos and Revolvers in the same general size group. Most thumb straps are adjustable/

Thx for the suggestions, I am having trouble finding an uncle mikes to fit the 57. I guess I am just not smart enough to figure it out. I can already tell if I buy one it will be the wrong one, and then I will repeat this 3 or 4 times. Any help with the exact model or style that fits would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Try an Uncle Mikes no. 3. I see them online as low as $10.
‘Form fitting, comfortable, and waterproof, this holster passes the test. Uncle Mikes Sidekick Hip Holster (size 3) is right-handed, and fits 5" to 6.5" barrel medium and large double action revolvers.’

Just an update, I tried a few different uncle mikes and never found any that fit any of my guns. Not sure what the deal is. I got ones that say they fit my beretta 92, but not even close. I know I tried size 3 and 5, and I don’t remember the others. Had to send them all back. For now I just bought another couple custom holsters for the 57, and have given up on a universal holster.

I did finally get to shoot the new M&P57 and really liked it. Very nice shooting, just very pricey. Shoots a lot like my PPQ22

Whoops, ignore my post which I tried unsuccessfully to delete once I worked out that the pistol being referred to is not the original 57 41 mag but something called the 5.7 instead! Time h as marched on for this holstorian.

Can you carry a revolver safely in an M-12/UM84 holster, or do you have to get the UM84R for a revolver?

I was one of the several inventors of the M-12/UM-84 and can tell you that the revolver should not be carried in the auto version; insufficient retention with or without the flap.

Why else would Bianchi have gone to the trouble to add another SKU, which in practice creates problems for factory inventory and dealer inventories; and therefor, for customer service (out of stocks, delays)?

Here's a recent bit of publicity (don't confuse the publicity that gun writers give us with actual field testing and endorsement, their editors wouldn't dare publish a factual review of a product or they'd never get another product for evaluation again):

TFB Review: Bianchi Universal Revolver Holster – UM84R | thefirearmblog.com

I didn't read it on the expectation that it is not completely factual anyway, there is no one left at the Bianchi operation who knows the brand or its history, most especially the UM-84's (the year it was introduced) or the M-12's (an arbitrary number issued by the Army). It's been what, 40 years? Fired, quit, or dead (I'm in the 'quit' category, JB in the 'fired' category).

Can anyone confirm that the Ruger 57 holster fits the M&P 5.7? I am thinking about getting another alien gear holster but they only have the Ruger. I did pick up a couple from wethepeople, and they are ok. I miss the adjustability from the alien gear though.
