Hi, all -
This is a "thin the herd" exercise, so I'm not looking for trades.
1. Smith & Wesson K-38 Combat Masterpiece (.38 Special). This is NOT a model 14 or 15; this is a *true* Combat Masterpiece. This is a 5-screw model from ~1955.
Mechanically, it's excellent, but it does have a significant bluing loss at the high points on the barrel, frame and cylinder (probably from holster carry). The metal itself is free of gouges or nicks, so it would be a good candidate for a trip to Ford's for a refinish. Lockup is reasonably tight; end shake is minimal. Feels very good in DA, and excellent in SA. S/N is K250XXX. Originally $450, now $350 and I'll throw in a Tyler trigger shoe (value ~30). Despite the bluing loss, many would consider this a rather collectible old Smith.
2. ** SPF ** Smith & Wesson pre-31 (chambered in .32 S&W). This is an excellent "progression gun" for teaching shooters who are sensitive to recoil, and bridges the gap nicely between .22 LR and .38 special. It is in truly excellent condition except for some mottling of the bluing on the side plate (it's not on the frame, so you could probably just get the plate refinished if you like). DA is stiff but smooth; SA is outstanding. $350.
First "I'll take it" followed up by a PM confirmation gets the gun(s).
Prices do not include shipping. Guns will be coming from 95014, so plan accordingly before you commit to buying. You can estimate shipping (figure a 4 lb. package for the K-38, 3 lb. for the pre-31), but remember it must go overnight.
Both of these guns are C&R eligible.
Feel free to contact me with any questions. Thanks for looking.
Mike
