I have two ex-CMP Mossberg 44 .22 target rifles for sale at $300 each. I prefer a FTF transaction in the greater Baltimore/northern Maryland area, but I will ship to the buyer for the actual shipping cost. Sale must be in accordance with all applicable federal, state, or local laws.
I bought both rifles from the CMP some years ago. They came without magazines or slings, and had the standard plastic trigger guards. I disassembled and cleaned both of them; refinished the stocks with an oil finish; bought new magazines and aluminum trigger guards from Brownell's; and bought GI slings for them. I no longer have the boxes or papers, but I do have the original trigger guards.
Both rifles are in the same condition: Very clean, no rust, crisp bores, no issues. Both are nice shooters. Differences are as follows:
Rifle #1, serial number 1471XX, is blued, with a Mossberg Microclick S-100 rear sight. The red and green paint has worn off the safety position indicators. There is some slight finish wear at the muzzle, and a couple of dings in the stock.
Rifle #2, serial number 1522XX, is parkerized (possibly refinished?), with a Lyman 57 rear sight. The safety position indicators have the original red and green paint. Slightly darker stock than Rifle #1, with a few more dings, but still in excellent condition overall. At some point someone used an ordinary wood screw to attach the trigger guard, and I left that in place; it works fine, just looks funky.
Advertised on one other forum, and consigned at my LGS...shoot me an e-mail or PM for more photos...thanks for looking!
