S&W Model 38/44 Heavy Duty model of 1950, pre model 20. In near pristine condition. Serial number is S844XX, 5 digit SN. Has same SN under right grip. No rust, no freckling, no rub marks, no holster wear, only a slight turn line on the cylinder. Has a smooth trigger function. Locks up tight and very little play in the cylinder. Pictures show it as it is, has not been cleaned or polished.
It is a 5 screw N frame, 4" pinned barrel, square butt, smooth backstrap, half moon sight, shrouded extractor rod, original wood grips, probably shipped in 1952 based on the SN.
