now $1,000 -SOLD I'VE HAD A COUPLE QUESTIONS ABOUT A MARK ON THE BARREL, NEXT TO THE MODEL OF 1988 ROLL MARK. I RUBBED IT WITH MY THUMB AND IT CAME OFF.
Smith and Wesson Model of 1988 625-2. 5" barrel. 45acp. This gun has been regarded as one of the most accurate S&W revolvers ever made. This is an early production gun of the model 625-2 and is rolled/stamped with "45 CAL MODEL OF 1988", which later that same year changed to "MODEL OF 1988." Many sources say only 1,500 were made with these markings. This gun is fired but in great shape, and comes with the original Pachmayr grips and original box. Can provide additional photos.

The model 25-7 which was a limited run in 1989. Sharp looking bead finish in 45 Colt and has a five inch barrel, unfluted cylinder, smooth, case hardened combat trigger and hammer. This Revolver is unfired and in excellent condition, the cylinder was ziptied shortly after purchase. If held up to the light, a very, very slight turn ring can be seen.

Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “SMITH & WESSON”, the right is marked “.45 CAL. MODEL OF 1989”. The left side of the frame has S&W’s monogram logo, the right has the four line Marcas Registradas.
The right side of the grip is marked “MONOGRIP / HOGUE” with the patent numbers, the included factory box is serialized to the pistol and reflects its configuration.
Barrel Length: 5”, with wide serrated rib & shrouded ejector rod.
Sights / Optics: The front sight is a serrated ramp blade that is integral to a serrated ramp rise in the wide rib of the barrel; the top of the rib is serrated for glare reduction. The rear sight is a flat top, square notched leaf in a base that is micrometer click adjustable for windage and elevation.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are a one piece Hogue brand Monogrip rubber stock with pebbling on the flanks and a wrap-around finger grooved fore strap. The grip exposes the serrated back strap of the grip frame. The stock shows only a few faint scuffs. The stock rates in about Excellent overall condition.
Type of Finish: Matte Glass Bead Blased Blue, with Case Colored Wide-Serrated Target Trigger & Wide-Checkered Target Hammer.
Finish Originality: Factory Original
Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.
The screw heads are sharp. The markings are crisp.

Rarely found 1 of Only 3500 made Smith & Wesson “CS-1” United States Customs Service, Model 686 (No dash) "M" marked. No external lock, .357 Magnum/.38 Special and +P, Stainless Steel, 6 shot, 4” barrel, Distinguished Combat Magnum revolver with Box. The “CS-1” markings were originally used on Model 686 revolvers that were ordered by the U.S. Customs Service and stands for "Customs Service - Version 1". These CS-1 Model 686 revolvers were made in both 4" and 3" barrel lengths with round butt grip frames. Smith and Wesson Folklore says the United States Customs Service issued revolvers were ordered destroyed by U.S. Attorney General, Janet Reno when the Agency switched pistols, approximately 1500 were destroyed, making this a Rarely found Smith & Wesson Model 686, “CS-1”, Stainless Steel double-action 6 round fluted cylinder revolver, with 4” barrel, L-Target Frame, round butt variation. Chambered in, .357 Magnum/.38 Special & +P. These revolvers were marked/stamped CS-1 inside the cylinder window frame/cylinder crane housing. The Smith & Wesson Original “CS-1”, “dull gray bead blast finish” is in good condition with light handling marks. The Bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. Both sides of the cylinder and the forcing cone area are Exceptionally clean. The Mechanics are Perfect and it locks up tight. This CS-1 Model 686 revolver was carried and fired very little. This S&W Model 686, CS-1 has the original Smith and Wesson Wood Stock Magna grips with medallions and are in the same condition as revolver itself. The wooden standard Grips are rarely found on this model. This S&W Model 686 revolver features, full length under-lug barrel, pinned black front ramp front sight and Micrometer click fully adjustable rear sight.
