Default **SOLD** 44 Target Model 1950 - 5 Inch

For Sale S&W 44 Special Target Model 1950 with 5 inch barrel

This one is not one for me to keep. The ones I keep I shoot. This one is too valuable/collectible for me to shoot, so I'll let someone else decide what to do with it. Based on talking with some knowledgeable folks on this forum, the production count on the 5 inch configuration is in low 60s. I've heard from a couple of you out there who are also 5 inch owners. This gun doesn't need much introduction. Those of you looking at it likely know what it is and how it's situated among 6.5 inch, 4 inch, and even scarcer configurations. The balance and feel of this gun is superb. There's not much evidence that it's been shot. If so it's been very well kept. I can't bring myself to keep it to shoot. As such I can't vouch for how it shoots. However I can vouch that I've cycled it some to appreciate the action. It already had a slight turn ring before I got it. Unfortunately it did not come to me with box or docs. I lettered the gun and confirmed it's 5 inch and magna stocks configuration as shipped from the factory. Only a little over 60 of these model 1950 target 44s were shipped from the factory with a 5 inch barrel.

Most of the above can be referenced in this thread:
1950 44 Target 5 inch, authenticity letter arrived!

Things that I notice which bear mentioning are the following which I tried to photograph the best I could:
- There are two small spots where the bluing is missing which I assume are small scratches though I can't detect any scarring of the metal. The larger one is more towards the front of the trigger guard and the other one is more towards the rear of the trigger guard. Both are quite small. I’ll add photos with the spots marked.
- There is a light scuff on the cylinder which is only visible if you hold it at the right angle to see. I included two photos where one angle shows it while the other doesn't.
- There's a small dimple in the bottom corner of the frame opposite the cylinder stop. I’ve been informed that it’s a factory mark. In the old days it was put on every gun by the test firer to denote it had been tested.

$6,000 shipped. Good luck!!!

Allow the Saturday evening folks to have a look…

Also adding photos with the two small spots on the trigger guard marked to highlight what’s there though it’s quite small.
