Up for sale was found in the back of my safe and it is a Ladysmith revolver chambered in 22 Long, serial number 9805. This model was manufactured from 1906 to 1910, with 9,374 manufactured (#4576 to #13950). This example was shipped from the factory on Feb 1911. It is a nickel gun with about 75% finish and the remainder is bright steel. The finish has scratches and dents, but functions properly. This tiny revolver is a challenge to shoot with large fingers, but I have shot it occasionally using 33 CB Short and Long. It has an excellent bore, bright and shiny. Serial number appears on the frame, cylinder, and barrel. Stocks are black hard rubber with number scratched into the right stock.
I believe that the original forcing cone was shot out, a common issue with this model, but a previous owner had fashioned a replacement that does allow the revolver to be shot safely and effectively. This model was designed to shoot 22 Long, but would chamber the much more powerful 22 Long Rifle round. Many were mistakenly shot with this high pressure 22 LR cartridge, which cracked and blew out the cone.
Gun is modern and will only be shipped directly your FFL or C&R FFL. Copy of the buyer’s FFL is required before the gun can be shipped. The buyer also is required to know and comply with all local and state laws of ownership in their respective areas. This revolver over 110 years old, so will be sold AS-IS, with no guarantees. Gun will be shipped via UPS. Price is $220 plus $30 for shipping via UPS for the lower 48, and buyer will be charged only actual cost to ship to Hawaii or Alaska. “First I’ll take it” is the buyer.
