The Ruger Collector’s Association (RCA) in 1982 offered a special edition of the then new Mk II .22 auto. 801 guns were sold, with the RCA seal engraved on the receiver by Ray Viramontez. 166 of the buyers ponied up to have the seal inlaid with 24 carat gold, like this one. The pistols were shipped in special cardboard boxes and a reproduction of the early pine “salt cod” box, with the RCA logo. Also in 1982 the RCA offered elephant ivory grips for the guns, with the RCA logo scrimshawed for $200.00.
