It is probably my ineptitude in using the search function or my advancing pre-Alzheimer's CRS (can't remember s___!), but I seem to remember several illustrations of wooden devices, believe that they were round) that held .22 cal cartridges in the old days. I have developed an interest in .22 cal shooting accessories and would be appreciative it if any of you could supply any info or pictures. Also I am interested in later ammo blocks such as the "Badger Handy Box"

Many thanks!

Maybe I'm missing something here...but unless it is designed to reload a speedloader, what is the point of dumping out a box of .22s and putting them in a wood box?

not CRS at all. i think they had zip or something like that in the title. maybe bruce green will dig up one of his pictures and post it for us again. lee

Round count for target shooters....
ages ago (for some of us) small bore rifle
competition was four positions, ten shots each...
it was a way to double check how many you fired,
along with your spotting scope if you
used open sights.

No mags were allowed.

Yes...and the ones with the cutout was for
an extra box of 50 rounds....we used these for
Saturday mornings at out club at NRA Jr, practice sessions.

$00.50 a box of 50 rounds of ammo...whooohoo!

I was a very lucky son of a competitive shooter and club!

Here's a pic of one I posted in the other thread... I found the box on ebay:

One of our posters here had 2 of the round ones for sale at the last OGCA show. He was asking $250 for each.

Yes, but did he get it?

I have them stacked like cordwood in the barn. Sounds like time to sell. :D

No wonder I never see any! You have all of them! I always keep an eye open for one when I'm at shows and antique shops. Never have found one.:(

The first one sold for $200, the second sold to a member here for a little less. Donated another one to the SWCA auction in Troy, you would not believe what that one sold for. Have been very lucky to find three in the last two years. Keep your eyes open you never know where they are hiding!
