Default Spotted Dog: Rachel Blakely! (Video Links, Data)

Spotted Dog mentioned being curious about Rachel Blakely, the sultry Australian actress best known here for playing the dangerous Marguerite Krux in, "Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's The Lost World" syndicated series. I think you can now view all episodes of The Lost World on YouTube.

I'll post some material showing Rachel and a couple of her co-stars. Give me a few minutes to build this. First up, a video made by a Dutch fan, Annika. YouTube - Harem It's called, "Harem", sung by the fabulous Sarah Brightman, from her CD of that name The theme was the "harem" of three girls from the Lost World treehouse. Rachel is the brunette. Note her swimming scene and the harem costume in one scene. The blonde in the loincloth is Jennifer O'Dell, the sole American on that program. The blonde in the black hot pants with the crossbow is Lara Cox, like Rachel, an Aussie, although she faked a US accent on that show. (That show was Rated PG-14, and the video should be "suitable" for this board.)

I'll try to post some pic links from a Rachel fan board, too.
She has an earthy, sultry quality when she wants that few modern actresses achieve. Her father is American, and Rachel worked as a bouncer in a bar before attaining success as an actress. She and occasional co-star William Snow have a chemistry that absolutely steams up the screen, making them a very popular duo on The Lost World and Tales of the South Seas. (Episodes also on YouTube.

Following Lost World, Rachel played a modern mom with a daughter reaching puberty on, Mortified, a family sitcom. She excelled as the wife/mom on that show. I think she has a real talent for comedy as well as for drama. YouTube also has episodes of Mortified. The show's title comes from how the pre-teen sees her parents' behavior. She was often embarrassed by them and older sister Layla.

Rachel Blakely was also a frequent guest star on such series as Blue Heelers and Neighbours, neither of which has been seen in the USA. Check YouTube for episodes. Those that I've seen might not be suitable for posting on this board.)

Rachel Blakely, a good composite of the actress from various roles. The man with her at 3:58 is her American father. This is a beautiful video: YouTube - Rachel Blakely

With Rob Estes in "Counterstrike": YouTube - Counterstrike - Rachel Blakely and Rob Estes Rachel is faking a British accent. Later in this movie, she kicks the daylights out of the bad guys. She can also use a sword quite well.

With Will Snow: YouTube - Rachel Blakely+Will Snow

She seems a very warm person, who interacts very kindly with fans. She and her partner, Sean Rigby, have two young children, and live in Queensland, I think. I once read an article about her fancy house, in an Aussie publication.

She isn't quite Diana Rigg, but has a warmer quality, combined with much of Dame Diana's irony and refined sarcasm.

Thumbs up Your an evil man Texas Star!

She's way young enough to be my daughter. And she is also spectacular! It's easy to see how you became so smitten. I think I'll go do some math problems now, or take a cold shower. And here I thought I wasn't missing anything by working nights and not seeing prime time for 8+ years?

(EDIT)
OK, now in some these scenes she's reminding me a bit of Nancy Kerrigan as well?
This Woman obviously is possessed and can shape shift!
Thanks! (I think?)

A little of Nancy Kerrigan? Yes, I can see that. But I've never seen her shape shift.

But as Marguerite Krux (say, "Crew") on Lost World, she played a Brit woman who was the reincarnation of ancient Druid high priestess Morrighan. She didn't shape shift, but did once walk an enchanted cloud bridge to recover two fabulous emeralds. And she could speak about all known languages. She'd mellowed considerably after the first season, admitting even to herself that Lord John Roxton, the Earl of Avebury, (Will Snow) had found the key to her heart, and was very determined to unlock it.

Rachel was very different as the modern mom on, "Mortified." Or, as the girl on, "Flipper." But she was still a charmer.

You can see episodes of all the shows listed on YouTube, and may be able to get the film, "Counterstrike", which I linked above in a kiss scene with actor Rob Estes. (He used to play with Mitzi Kapture on, "Silk Stalkings.")

By the way,you mentioned age. Rachel turned 40 this year. Most of those links are to shows that she made in her 20's and 30's. She told fans that she's semi-retired now, taking great pleasure in raising her and Sean Rigby's two kids.

I don't know whether I'm "smitten" with Rachel Blakely. I certainly admire her and deeply respect her, both as an actress and as a human being. She is drolly witty, clever, and very gracious to her fans. I was also very impressed with the Lost World co-stars, Lara Cox ( very versatile actress) and Jennifer O'Dell. They got along great, and Jen has since appeared on a couple of the CSI shows and on, The Closer, where she teamed again with pal Will Snow, who moved to Los Angeles a few years ago. Judging by how they acted at the Lost World conventions in California, Jen and Will are really good buddies, although his fans normally associate him more with Rachel.

You compared Rachel with skater Nancy Kerrigan. Maybe in looks, but Rachel used to be a tough bar bouncer and is a swordswoman. If Tonya Harding had accosted her, I bet that Rach would have kicked her teeth out!

I guess that if I was going to actually meet and know celebrity women, Rachel would definitely be on my short list. Along with Ana Beatriz Barros (another woman with a shrewd, ironic sense of humor!), Lara Cox, Doutzen Kroes, and Alessandra Ambrosio. Which reminds me: somewhere between being a bouncer and becoming an actress, Rachel Blakely was one of Australia's better known models. Besides ads, she was a cover model. Altogether, a remarkable lady, and modest enough not to take herself too seriously.

I'm glad that you enjoyed having a look at her, and don't forget those YouTube episodes, if you care to see more.
