How many Rounds of Ammo did we Buy ?
Saw this on the net. We're not worried.
"A run on bullets
Whatever the reason, be it economics or dark suspicions, gun owners bought about 12 billion rounds of ammunition in the past year."

{Just to give a little context:}
Gun owners have bought about 12 billion rounds of ammunition in the past year, industry officials estimate. That's up from 7 billion to 10 billion in a normal year.

So it may be up as little as 20%. I guess they are talking about civilian buyers only, at least the article makes no mention of military/police sales.

I bought 13,500 rds of WWB 9mm for .08/rd in 2004 (at BassPro no less). I sold 8,000 of said rounds @ .30/rd over the summer. Better than the stock market. Joe

I didn't buy that much during the panic. Some shotgun slugs and a little .308.
I'm picking up a little .22 now since prices have come down a bit.
I am getting low on Winchester LP primers however since I loaded a bunch of target .45 ACPs for my son to shoot in practice and competition.

I bought 5500 rounds of 22, but I loaded about 5000 of other calibers and have components to load 100,000

Still no bulk pack .22s at the two local Wally Worlds. Forget about the regular gun shops, as they don't stock the bulk packs anyway.
The price of reloading components has skyrocketed. I cannot find .45 ACP jacketed (or copper plated) bullet heads for less than $79.99 per 500!!! That is just plain crazy!
I am glad I bought a few bulk boxes of the .22s when they were in stock about this time last year. At least I will have something to shoot this winter.

I've been seeing bulk packs in the KC Wallys...Have to admit to having taken a few boxes home.
kennyb,
Yes, but the folks who were not stocked up on reloading components have also "paid the price".

kennyb,
Agreed! Reloading is the best way to keep ammo on the shelf! Of course rimfire ammo is another story...thus the trips to Wally!! I sure like the Federal Bulk packs...the work in every rimfire I own.
