Life isn't fair
I have the priveledge of reuniting with old friends on Facebook. Today I got a message from my locker partner in 7th grade. He and his brother both have muscular dystrophy. His brother died years ago, and I think my friend has lived long for having this disease.
He was able to walk through most of school, but if he fell he needed help to get up. I can remember helping him once. It was an honor to help this proud boy, now man, just doing his best and enjoying everything. I had it so easy.
I can tell by the quick note he sent me that he still has a great attitude, and that probably has sustained him. His profile photo implies he is bedridden, but carries a huge smile.
Enjoy everything you have, it can be gone in an instant. Compare your problems with those who are challenged further.

Absolutely!
You never have to look far to find a million reasons to be thankful, not just during Thanksgiving, but every single day.
Thanks for sharing the story.

The will of God IS what IS and we need to be thankful everyday for what little we have.
If life was fair, the horse would get to ride half of the time.

No matter how much you don't have or what straw in life you drew, it could always be worse.

I have an old Navy buddy that now suffers from MS.
He thought about ending it at one time. I'm happy to say that he is still the fighter I new in the Navy, and has not given up.

When you start feeling sorry for yourself, look around. You won't have to look far or long to realize you have much to be thankful for. As John mentioned, I learned a long time ago, never say "it can't get any worse."

Amen to those sentiments. "I cried because I had no shoes , until l found a man who had no feet." Give Thanks to what you have, don't complain for what you don't. Just around the corner you will find someone who has less than you.

Thanks for the thread-a very sobering reminder indeed.

A friend once told me if I had any complaints to look on my birth certificate and show him where it said life would be fair.I didn't bother because I knew he was right, that was a long time ago and he didn't make 40.But he left me that little piece of wisdom and I'll never forget it or him.

After 76 years and still able to get around and show up here in the Forum I feel I'm blessed. Like others, when feeling down I usually reflect on the disabilities of other individuals and know how well off I am.

...you didn't get the memo?
Without Blessing and Tribulations I wouldn't know what to do with all my extra time....

When you start to feel sorry for yourself, that's your cue to go help someone else.
