A single shot heavy barrel Mossberg Model 35. A pure joy to shoot, simple, elegant, from a time ( the 1930's) when form and beauty were the standard. The triggger breaks at 3.5 pounds and quarter size groups are the norm at 50 yards with the right ammo.

reerc,
I think it's cute too! My wife "decided" that the one I picked up a couple years ago is her gun. I'm tickled pink because she lets me shoot it!!
What's not fun about that little Browning???

Mine looks just like a Remington Classic. But it's an old 721 fitted with a .280 barrel by Larry Brace, and glassed by me in a Classic stock. Of course tuned to the Nth degree.

With the ejection port straight down, "what's not fun" is popping a hot shell down a shirt sleeve!

Favorite guns I own.......
Well, it's gotta be my Winchester 62-A .22 pump(made in 1961). It's a take-down, feeds any .22 ammo you can put in it,is accurate beyond normal reason, and you can shoot it all day on a budget. BUT, I've also got this old 1961 4-screw 29 in a 6 1/2" that is my "near perfect" gun because it is not so nice that it can't be used in the woods.

Here are my two fav's.
1942 91/30 and 1952 CZ-52
I would let the long gun go before the pistol. Both are very accurate! Were free with ammo boxs full of ammo.
Notice the Sigma is not there and try as I did yesterday I could not part with my hard earned money for a 686+ or a M&P .45 ACP or both at Academy.

I like all of my guns; it’s hard to pick a favorite.
It’s kind of like the different tools in my tool box: each has its own purpose.
But lately, I’ve been toting my 629 Classic in the woods accompanied by an Arkansas Toothpick:
And of course I’ve always admired my CS45:

I can't narrow it done to one, so I'll list several:
All around favorite is my M27 to .44 Special conversion. The work was done in 1976 and it was my second law enforcement revolver.
My funnest shooting revolver (yeah, I know that's not a word) is a 5" Official Police .32-20.
A .22 LR Remington rolling block fills the rifle catagory.
It's a tossup on shotguns. I have a 1897 Winchester 12 gauge with an 18 1/4" barrel that I carried as a duty gun and now serves in home defense. The 12 gauge Darne double is neat because of the sliding breach block and is a featherweight.

Gonna have to be my Gen III G17. Since we are allowed to choose our own duty guns and I did not make the choice lightly this must be it. It is ugly, not the most powerful and you won't find it on the bullseye pistol range. You will find in a fight though. I chose it for a uniform duty pistol and still carry it now that I'm plain clothes. I just got a G19 for my duty arm now and carry a G26 on my ankle. The G17 mags work in both of those and are what I carry for spare mags. It's a good system. I still have to pull uniform duty on occasion and will continue to carry for that.

thats true. i find myself more able to shoot weapons that dont have the best known attributes better than some that do. but then i also find myself able to find comfort and good sight alignment and get a feel for weapons that are normally too odd for a lot of shooters. or too big or bulky that may let some folks feel uncomfortable. thats one thing i found in my desert eagle. neither the weight nor size of the weapon feel odd in my hands. glock makes a good pistol. its proven, reliable, and just fun to shoot. my next handgun is either going to be a glock or a hk. not sure just yet.

This is hard. I have a small accumulation of S&W revolvers. I have several two 03 and two 03-A3 rifles and seven (yes... they are addictive) M-1 Garands. There is also a 870 12 ga., a Win. 190 and a Ruger 77-22. Which one is my favorite? It would come down to my S&W 18-3 and my 66-2. If pushed, I'd take the 18-3.

I would have to say my favorite is the first NEW gun I ever bought. Time frame was early 1960s and the laws and ways of doing things were totally different from today.
Gun was a little Browning take down semi auto.22 rifle.
My father was a so-so hunter but starting real early I was the gun bug and had owned a couple of used .22s and a couple shotguns by age 15. My father used to accompany me to the gun store and his only duty was to tell the shop owner “yeah it’s all right sell him the gun” It got to the point my father said to the dealer he knows what he is doing sell him what he wants I do not have to be here!. After that I just went to the dealer and we did business no problem, we were buying/selling guns or just getting ammo.
The Browning was a high class gun as it listed for about $55 where normal Mossberg’s, Remington’s, Winchester SAs were about $35-$40. Dealer gave me a break and I got it for $52 with a box of ammo thrown in. No sales tax then, no paper work except bill of sale. As I was 15 when I bought the Browning that purchase represented a bunch of leave raking and snow shoveling all over my neighborhood.
Put thousands of rounds through that little gun, mounted a bunch of different scopes (tip off mount) and generally had/have a great time. It sits in the first position front row of my safe.

A pre-model# 30 Hand Ejector, 2" Rd Butt. Fits me perfectly.
Closely followed by a pre-model# 38 Hand Ejector, 2" Rd Butt.
To me, these are the epitome of CC firearms. JMHO, TACC1.

[QUOTE=The Dude;1192404]Of the small collection of guns I have, my favorite amongst them all would probably be my Magnum Research Desert Eagle MK. XIX in .50 AE. This pistol continues to amaze me for an automatic. Anyone else have a favorite in their personal collections?
Isn't this of like asking Jay Leno what is his favorite car???
It seems to change all the time. Right now I always carry two guns to the range, no matter what else I take. Pistol a GSG 1911. Rifle a S&W15/22. Why: fun, accurate, cool looking, cheap to shoot, and reliable with good ammo.
Next month it might be somthing else.

How can I say which I like best? I like them for so many different reasons. These are mostly plain guns with nothing special about thm, but with many separate reasons to be liked.
Marlin 81DL, just post WW II (ca 1946). The first rifle my father gave me. Probaly had 20K rounds of high velocity through it; headspace is a little long now. It originally had a Marlin peep sight, I added the scope.
Colt Lightning Rifle 38-40 (CLMR: Colt Lightning Magazine Rifle). My Great grandfather's deer rifle. Probably a custom order (checkering, pistol grip stock, grip cap a 50¢ piece) First center fire rifle I ever shot, I've probably shot it a lot more than he did. First caliber I handloaded.
French military MAC 50 in 9mm P. With French 'para' web gear. Greatly underestimated combat pistol. The more I shoot it the more I like it.
Remington 760 carbine in 30-06. Best brush and timber rifle ever. Has two moose and four caribou to its credit when I was stationed in Alaska. Wears a Weaver K 2.5, great scope for close work. A very comforting weight to have on your shoulder out picking berries in Alaska when that guy picking berrries on the other side of the bush turns out to be a bear.
Springfield M2 22. Shot one of these for three years on an ROTC rifle team. Replaced by the Remington 513T; I greatly prefered the Springfield. Got this on at a Navy surplus sale in 1962 for $25. Has all the M2 modifications but receiver is marked M1.

More Favorites
Smith & Wesson Model 41, 4 digit serial number. I took it new out of the box and campaigned it for several years on an Army pistol team. Best memory: during a match at Ft Riley, KS, I shot it over the American 22 course (900 points) one day, the Olympic 22 rapid fire course the next day and the Olympic 50 meter slow fire match (60 rounds, 2 hours in a cage and you come out a nervious wreck) the third day. No i didn't win any medals.
Mauser military pistol, 'cone hammer' model. Probably made 1898. Has the rear sight marked 'Mauser Cartridge 303' and only calibrated to 300 yards. It was probably intended for the English market although not so marked. First nice Mauser I ever owned.
Colt series 70, 45 ACP, lightly tweaked by Jim Clark. Shown wearing the slide with Meprolite sights. Aother slide has Bo-Mars for practice and plinking. My bedside gun, travel companion and go-to pistol when there's trouble brewing.
S&W Model 39-2. Sits by my computer and goes into my pocket when the doorbell rings in the evening. Magazine is loaded with Speer Gold Dots, one in the chamber and the safety is off.
S&W 625 Mountain Gun in 45 Colt. Lives in a drawer next to where I sit in the living room. Adds to my peace of mind if there are 'noises off'. Has smooth Spegel grips as the checkered ones would chew up my hand if I shoot more than a few heavy loads. Great fun to shoot with light plinking loads using the 180 gr SWC bullet intended for 45 ACP target loads. Business loads are 250 gr Speer HPs.

My well worn Model 57 S serial with Coke grips. Shoots great and I can carry it and use it without worry about doing it much harm.
Most sentimental would be my Ruger Red Eagle my buddy Jim gave me before he died. According to the factory the serial number is low enough as it was likely built in Ruger's garage that first year of production.

It has to be this octogon barreled winchester model 61 .22 long rifle. Dad bought it in the late 1930s and I shot it since the dawn of my memory. It`s what I learned on. My dad was a fantastic shooter with it. I seen him several times hit flying blackbirds! Once he entered a neighborhood turkey shoot. I looked around and seen guys with bolts and scopes. I voiced my concerns. I remember pa saying, "Well, they still have to hold em!" Dad walked up and won the turkey!
Dad was 6 ft 5"s so put a block of wood for LOP on the stock as he did with all his long guns. Here is the winchester and a picture of dad. He died a few weeks short of 90 back in 2003.

Still More Favorites
S&W Model 638. Goes into my pocket when I leave the house in the evening. Sometimes I wear the lightly modified Galco cross draw holster instead of pocketing it. Loaded with Speer 'short barrel' 38 Gold Dots. Has smooth Spegel grips as the checkering would be painful when the light gun comes back hard with service loads. Gets shot a lot with Keith type SWCs out in the desert.
Astra 903. Nazi gun, probably from the Naval Infantry at Cherbourg in WW II. Shot over 2500 rounds, mostly full auto with cast bullets. Gave me an appreciation of what full auto will do and what it will not do.
Ruger Security Six, six inch barrel in 357, Hogue grips. Bought it instead of a S&W when Smith was making one of its unfortunate forays into 'gun control'. My carry gun out in the desert. It's probably been 300 miles on my side in that El Paso Saddlery Tom Threepersons holster, and it's been in and out of it about 1000 times as I practiced close, fast shooting. Lots of blue wear, but it's still tight and accurate. I carry it sighted in for 100 yards to give stand-off when out in the desert.
Colt M4 carbine with Aimpoint sight. It's the rifle in my 'bug-out' bag, probably the best rifle for that niche. Surprisingly accurate: 10 shot groups off a bench with scope just over one inch. Reliable, too. I'm planning an expedition to an old cavalry fort out in the desert, a little too close to the border for comfort. This will be on my shoulder and the Ruger on my belt. What am I afraid of? Not too much.
Feinwrkbau Model 300 air rifle and Model 65 air pistol. I can get about 18 yards range from my utility room to the back of the garage where I hang my styrofoam block of a target holder; plenty of space to hone my meagre off hand and pistol shooting skills when it's cold, hot, wet or windy outside. the rifle is heavy and very friendly; but the pistol with its light barrel will really tell you when you pull a shot for some reason.
It hurts to think about the 'favorites' I've sold over the years.

It's a toss up between my Model 18-0 and my new M&P22. They are just plain fun to shoot, and shoot, and shoot, and...

My all time favorite is a Ruger OM in .41Magnum I've had forever. It's saved my bacon more than once. Favorite S&W is my 657 Mountain Gun.

Kinda like asking which is my favorite grandchild.
But for right now it's this pre-17 K-22 one liner.
My Favorite Smith of all-time would have to be my 76.
Like this one pictured. I've long since sold it.

M1 Garand
This question is a bit like which child is your favorite. Good thing I have only one child.
For my, it is my M1 Garand.
As a shooting buddy stated once, the military rifles with wood have soul.
Thanks,
glen

Like most have said - they're all my favorites or I wouldn't have them! 629-2; 627PC, TRR8; Python 4" blued; Glock 21sf; Glock 30sf; Kimber Tac Entry; Ruger Alaskan 44; and newest 460V. But must admit that the one that gets pulled out most often, usually by request, is my Ruger Alaskan 44mag. It's so much fun to shoot - takes a beating and always comes back for more.

As others have stated my favorite changes. Right now it's my Remington 40X 22LR. I have had it for a month or so. Don

Like Rock Doc, my S&W target model 1911 (#108284) is my favorite handgun. It by far is the handgun I feel most confident with when I pick it up in terms of accuracy.

I don't have a lot, but I just love my Spingfield XDS. It's an awesome carry pistol. Lightweight, so compact, very manageable recoil accurate and .45 ACP. It doesn't hurt that it feels great in my hand and it's a handsome piece too.

Before the I lost all my guns in that freak nature disaster they were M-1 Carbine, Springfield Armory 1911 Milspec. and my S&W 686 4" barrel. But alas they are now all melted into a heap of steel and ash.

Here are my favorites. These are the 2 686's that my Dad has given me in the past few years.
Top is a 686 no dash 6 inch made in 1984
the second is a 686-3 4 inch made in 1988
then there is my Ruger Flattop Blackhawk that is a 3 screw.

I see I already answered way back on this old thread. Every time I look through my collection my answer is going to be different. Most all of my guns are "favorites" or wouldnt own them. Yes I could cull out a handful if I was pressed for money but the remainder I would break out in a cold sweat to choose. I am going to post a few pictures of pairs I have to show you my top choices.
A 27-2 and 29-2 both in 5".
24-3 and 25-5
colt SAA`s in .45 colt and .44 special
S&W 66-3 lew horton special 1 of 300 and the competition, a nickle python 2 1/2"
Colt troopers in .22 lr and nickle .38 special
Browning 92 in .44 mag and Rossi Puma in .357 mag
Factory worked over triplelock and 1950 target.
