Have you ever seen A Desert Eagle like this one ?
This 44 magnum has some flair to it. Never seen a 14" barreled Desert Eagle before. Can anyone tell me about it. I heard all kind of stories from Helicopter shooter gun to a Hunters special edition.
thanks
Dan

Looks like one of those drug-runner shiny boat anchors.
I know I've seen similar before and it is quite a set-up!

I don't know if they have discontinued the 14" barrel, but it used to be an optional barrel. They come with a 6" barrel, and you can get a 10" I know for sure.
At one time you could get an 8" barrel but that one has been discontinued. I don't know about the 14" whether or not you can still get it.
It was aimed mostly at the hunters that Magnum Research tried to market the big bore pistols to.

That's a little shiny for woods work. Funny how the front sight is set back a few inches, shortening the potential sight radius.

Is that because the barrel is ported?

Dan, What happened to the BBQ Bug that bit you? You are straying afield from your appointer karma and chosen destiny of having all the scratched up shiney guns with pearl steer head grips! Ed #15

The barrels aren't ported, I would guess the taper of the barrel had something to do with the front sight placement.
Hey Chris, good to hear from you, alls well out here and no I didnt buy the gun, its one the shop I work for picked up this past show, but I have thought about buying it

Isn't there a rule about sight radius in some of the shooting games? Perhaps metallic Silhouette? Thah may explain the sight positioning.

In "The Enforcer," didn't Harry Callahan have one just like that, in the same sort of case? Seems like he opened up the case when he and his partner (the same actor who actually played the bad guy, Mustafa, in Magnum Force!) were out shooting in the woods.

Dirty Harry's auto was an AutoMag .44 magnum not a Desert Eagle.

Nope, it was an Automag that Harry Callahan had.

I stand corrected... I should have known better! Still seems like it was in quite a nice red-lined presentation case, though!

Mine's black
They had a Mk VII hunter special and I picked mine up in 2000, IIRC. Wooden case, 6" bbl, the 14" bbl, scope mounts and I was supposed to get a 2X Leupold. The dealer switched that for a Simmons. OTD ~1.1K IIRC. Dealer got his reward for doing things like that .. Pancreatic CA and dead in 8 months. Kharma works both ways in my limited experience

No. The only people who can afford to buy that setup are eyeglass-wearing older shooters, and the progressive lens isn't made that will keep the front and rear sights in focus at the same time if the front sight moves any further into the distance.
Or so I say.

Wow, that's a handsome firearm!
I've never seen the 14" barrel before.
The gun reminds me of the hand cannon that Charles Bronson used in one of his Death Wish flicks.
