Not only do they reproduce, they often vote as well. Sometimes more than once.

Hey, it could have been the high strength red stuff.

A soldering iron tip or even the wave of a hand torch across the screw head would do it. I had to remove a mounting screw from an ACOG that was in with the red 'stud and bearing' loc-tite a while back. THAT was nervous. (Worked out fine.)

I'll repeat what I've said before in some other post.
Stupidity should be painful.

It is. I once lost my balance while squating to check tire pressure on a motorcycle I'd just ridden about 120 miles. And grabbed a header pipe. Trust me, it is.

Aw...the feller clearly wanted to use up as much of the loctite he could before it dried up so he could get his money's worth.

Must have been Scottish...it makes sense to me.

Either that, or he was oiling it so much the screws kept backing out, so he loctited 'em.

Did you know that the factory currently uses a spot of some sort of red colored threadlocker substance on all the sideplate screws on new revolvers? I know they've been doing this for years actually, but I think it is already dried on the screw before they install them, as the "dot" is only in one place on the screw. Anyone else noticed this besides me?

Blue lock tite should come off with no problem. With the right screwdriver tip you shouldn't have any problem at all. Only red loctite requires heat.

"Stupid is as stupid does . . . "

People that don't know which end of a Crescent Wrench gos on a nut, and who normally would not dream of opening the hood of their automobile somehow seem compelled to pick up an ill-fitting screwdriver (and maybe a hammer) and disassemble their firearms. I don't get why they do it, but they do.

Default Howdy

Howdy,
I hate to be the dope. It looks I am. Why would a person not use blue Loc-Tite on sideplate screws?
I have shot them loose over time and never found the blue stuff to hurt anything?
Thanks
Mike

Stupid should not be protected. When you protect stupid, it multiplies and there is more than enough to go around.

Used correctly, nothing wrong with blue Loctite on the side plate screws, it's the other colors you want to watch out for - red being the most common. Blue unscrews with no issues. Green Loctite, might as well be welded.
