Titan,
I have an info E mail in to Truglo corporate.
I'm still trying to get confirming info from Natchez.
More as it develops.
(EDIT) No additional info via Natchez (phone order line)
Am attempting a call to Truglo next...

And the answer is!
Spoke to Truglo technical.
Device fastens via two mount drillings (fasteners included). On some/most applications (non- pedestal bead Remingtons?) the existing bead mounting location can be used for one of the two. In a pedestal bead set up, the unit is typically positioned behind the existing pedestal drilled and tapped.
(My Wife's birthday present to me was just selected)

It Came In!

They're all metal, have very effective protection for the light pipe. The F/O green light rod is about 3/16" as viewed by the operator. It gathers light quite well even in gloomy Seattle. The Tritium vial produces a gentle green glow that illuminates the entire 3/16" surface in complete darkness. The sight base housing is milled for the two 6/48 (included) fasteners. The base also is drilled and tapped for mounting from below, should the gun require it. The base assembly is machined in a curve to match the curve on a plain shotgun barrel. For installation, the light pipe is removed (easily) for marking the barrel for drilling and tapping.
Make no mistake though! This is a large, quick acquisition device. It's about 1/2" tall, approximately 1/2" across at it's mounting base, and is about 5/32" at the top of it's tapered top. It's meant to be picked up quickly as the gun is shouldered, and therefore is large. More when shot...

Spotteddog gives it 4 dew claws up!

It's big, it's bright and it's fast!
It isn't something I'd put on a gun that slugs regularly would be tossed out of, but great for Buck shot. Even when looking over the top of the receiver, there's no mistaking where the muzzle is pointing while wearing this thing. No difference in referencing whether bright/low/or no light.
Couldn't be happier!
I recall the first H/D 12 gauge I mounted a Tritium bead to (a Meprolite). It was just that, a Tritium bead with a white insert around it. In fact, it was so "universal" that it had the ability to be viewed from both the shoot-er and shoot-ee sides, till black paint was applied to the muzzle side of it. Since there were no "ears" around it for protection, of course the first thing that happened was the gun fell, rupturing the unprotected vial. The second gun had one that was higher quality (Marbles), only viewable from the operator's side and larger due to it being in a more robust machined housing. Interestingly, both those guns ended up stolen? (Bad Karma?)
This one is mounted on an 870. Sorry, I'll have to wait 14 years to verify whether the guarantee of useable illumination is accurate?

If you don't want to tap an extra hole in the barrel, I would think one screw and a dab of black 5200 would do nicely.

I call extra holes bored into the barrel my "Polish comp" system!
Actually, you could install button head cap screws if you wanted to pull it off in the future? I decided to leave the OEM pedestal & bead in place and mounted the Truglo behind it as suggested by their tech support. I figured worst case, the OEM would still be there if something catastrophic unfolded? But your probably right Caje! Some of that stuff could probably hold a submarine hatch?

Interesting, I wonder how this would work on my Mossberg. I'm pretty fond of the ghost ring sights on that shotgun, but a little more light at the far end of the sight picture would be an improvement.

For the record, I had a 590 G/R as well. I gave it to my L/handed off spring due to it's having the tang mounted ambi safety. The 590's G/R was too damned good with slugs @ 50-100 yards to ever risk screwing with it's sighting system? But I did end up getting a dovetail Tritium insert for the front.

I then painted the rest of the blade day-glo orange.
