No. Even if the anti's can devise a way to get around the Second Amendment they will still have to deal with the "just compensation" clause.
Should the government ever ban civilian possession of arms and ammunition they will have to pay fair market value to the owners.
My plan, in the event this comes to pass, is to tie the matter up in federal court for a good long time. Whatever they might offer me as "fair market value" will be disputed in court, and my arguments will be supported by written purchase offers from accomodating friends, offering much higher prices than the government. We will continue jacking up the prices as much as possible, for as long as we can, while continually seeking court injunctions preventing implementation of the law until the matter of value is finally settled.
I remember when the Clinton Assault Weapons Ban went into effect. Before the ban you could buy a Ruger Mini-14 for about $250. After the ban the price went over $400 almost immediately. Before the ban 30-round AR-15 magazines were less than $10; after the ban the prices went over $75.
The last that I heard, it is not unusual for civil matters in federal court to take a couple of years prior to the first hearing. Just about any first-year law student should be able to wrangle at least a couple of additional hearings, thus pushing off a trial date for several years. During the ensuing time my collection should double, triple, maybe even quadruple in value.
In the end, I still plan on refusing to surrender everything. I still want to make them arrest me, make them try me, make them convict me, make them house me, make them feed me, and make them take care of my medical needs. Better to be a prisoner than a slave.
There are an estimated 85 million to 100 million gun owners in the United States. If even 2% of us refuse to comply with a law banning private ownership of firearms, that means they will have 1.7 to 2 million people that they will have to arrest, try, convict, and imprison. I don't believe that the government has the resources (courtrooms, judges, prosecutors, and prison space) to make it happen.
Peaceful civil disobedience is the answer.

The government will determine fair market value. Say $50 per firearm regardless of firearm.

Which will be after your firearms are gone and you've received the $50 per. Even if you win, the firearms will be destroyed before the case is over.

What is the "fair market value" of something that cannot be legally sold? Don't confuse fair market value with street value. How many growers get compensated for the marijuana plants the government confiscates every year?
Realistically I think the Feds will follow the plan they used for Class 3 firearms. They will not outright ban anything and all existing firearms you own will be registered and grandfathered in. However if you want to sell a firearm there will be a $12000 transfer tax. Remember, that $200 transfer tax for class 3 firearms may seem reasonable now but it represented over a months pay when it was enacted in 1934.

When the Supreme Court recently ruled that local governments can seize private property for the purpose of commercial development, our rights as Americans took a very big hit. And this is supposedly a "conservative" oriented Count, so who knows what a more liberal court might do.

They're coming to take your guns tomorrow. You'd better box them up and ship them to me. I'll take good care of 'em. Promise!

As a long time employee of a large federal bureau that investigates things, I doubt even if guns were somehow outlawed anyone would go door to door to get them. There are just too many people ready and willing to go down in a blaze of glory.
If guns were outlawed, I think there would be a grace period to turn them in, then that would be it. Take them to the range, somebody calls the cops. Shoot them in the woods, somebody calls the cops. The plumber sees them in your house, he calls the cops. When you go to work, a bunch of guys serve a search warrant on your house and then the boss calls you in and you get hooked.
But, if you want to keep them in the basement and look at them every night, no one would be the wiser. Then when you die, your wife or kids will have to decide if its worth becoming felons.
That said, I don't think it will ever happen. I think the trend is going the other way.

I believe that their would be a reveloution in the country if they tryed to take our guns away. I do think they could control the ammo to the point of making your weapon eventually useless.

Oh, those. Except I sold them all to some guy for $20, because they're like, scary and stuff. Can I write the loss off on my taxes?

Not me-If they want them, they're welcome to them-I'll not break any law. Tell me where to go and I'll be turning them in.

The grab or ban is a ways off. They learned a lot from the 94 ban and will try to correct their mistakes. Registration will be the first step as they need to know who has what in order to effectively confiscate firearms. They will follow the model of every other "civilized" nation and register handguns and semi-autos first followed by the rest of the long guns. Then the bans will start.
It's up to us to stop it.

I will be on the phone denouncing owners of illegal guns. They're easy to recognize-they all have "Obama/Biden" bumperstickers on their cars.

I believe the liberals haven't forgotten what took place in '94 after their last big "victory". They'll likely try a step by step approach, but they won't do anything that drastic again soon. Barry would love to, as would most of the more liberal members of the house and senate, but right now they have too much on their plates, like ramming socialized medicine down our throats. The irony of that is I believe it will have the same effect as the aforementioned gun control fiasco. Let's hope the republicans are a little smarter this time around when that happens.

An armed populace is one reason America is still great! No honest politician need ever fear a righteous public!
I guess the last time recently that crooked thugs were thrown out by an armed populace here in America was in 1946.
No one was arrested either . . . except the crooks who got captured by the armed populace. It is quite an interesting story . . .
Here's what happened, in Athens, Tennessee . . .
The Battle of Athens

With the expiration of the assault weapons ban; recent SC decision confirming the 2nd; most states allowing for some form of CC; as well as Obama signing the national parks bill.... I think the general trend is in the right direction.
