I've never had to change a solenoid, but I've done the belts in a few of them. There are two belts that run the mechanism- a short one and a longer one. As I recall, the short one runs the fan, and the longer one runs the slide-changing mechanism. Whenever the gate won't work, or is out of synch, it's usually the belts. Taking one apart, and putting it back together, isn't difficult, as long as you pay attention to what you take out from where! The difficulty will be in finding the part(s). I'm sure there are still some speciality places that stock them, but (unfortunately) 35mm slides are now an outdated technology. I work part time for a career college that teaches photography (not my program, but how this particular school got their start), and they have gone exclusively digital. There is only one module that involves slides, only to demonstrate exposure concepts with no possibility of manipulation; the slides are not even mounted or projected! You may want to consider snatching up another projector for parts. If the Ektagraphic takes the same solenoid, you might look for schools and other large organizations "cleaning out" their old stock of Ektagraphics. They were much sturdier than the compariable Carousels. Good luck!!!
