I've been smiling every time I see this thread go back to the top.
A girl once hit me pretty hard for saying that very same phrase.

If you want to see what kind of a person someone is, get them a dog.
We currently have two black labs, Blackie and Pistol. Plus two horses, Little Joe and Taffy. And four chickens [they have names but I do not know them, but my daughter does]. A sheep named Rosie, she has been on my property for 15 years now. A fish named "Romeo". And a $1300.00 stray cat named Simba.
I want to especially thank those of you who have rescued dogs.
My wife had a poodle mix she rescued before I met her. Read the top line. Because of the way she treated that dog I knew she'd make a good Mom and a good wife. She treats me like a dog........just kidding.

I wanted to bring this thread up two years. Our pups have grown up, they were born in May 2010. My oldest son knew something was up when the dogs got real quiet in the back yard. He peeked out the window and grabbed his camera.
Here is Princess with the five at birth.
Yesterday they are at the fence barking at the deer!!

My son kept creeping closer and closer, then the dogs and deer realized he was there.
He uses a Nikon camera and his pictures of "his kids" playing bring a lot of joy. The old deer stand in the back is from the original ranch, my wife refused to let me move into onto our property before we put the fence up!!

Here is my blue Doberman puppy "Holly" at 4 months (last month). She is a handful...we have two Chihuahuas and a much larger male Doberman also. She wants to play all the time and the older dogs just want to kick back. B

These are my "SPOILED BABYS" !
Min-Pins, Stag Red Female "Ginger" is 6, and Black & Tan Male "Hofner" is 2.
I gotta watch Ginger as when I go across the gate from the kitchen she will come up behind me and pinch me on the back of my left leg right below the ole butt cheak --------
Holes in kitchen wall she started, Hofner helped out as well. Now both have stopped, so time to repair and paint.

I've had someone ask to see my puppies. I told him that I only have one dog and she's full grown. He got a puzzled look on his face and just turned around and walked away. I guess he mistook me for someone else.

Here's Angus at around 4 months trying to get back in the boat after he fell out!
Here he is at 6 months discussing that "Master - dog" issue with me
Today is his 9 month birthday-a month ago he weighed in ay 85lbs
looks like he is about 90 right now-I'll try to get another photo up.
Love my puppy (technically they're puppies for the first year )

Puppies are so great... so full of energy and all... then they grow up and just want to sit around looking at dog pics on S&W Forum.

Yup... as you can see in this pic, she's reaching for her model 65 as a cat had just ran by the bay window in her office.

Ummm... are ya sure there isn't a Cattle Dog in that Doxie woodpile? She's adorable!
Here's Dingo shortly after his arrival. Our GSD Fauna was a couple years old (IIRC) and adopted him right away as her own. They got into some rambunctious play!

Fishslayer, You got that right. Never thought about it.
She's a little sweetheart. Good hunters for their size
those Dachsunds. I've read where they we're bred to hunt
badgers. Perfect size to go into a den hole and go after them.
Now ole Country Girl would'nt unless there was a treat down
the hole.

First there is McDuff, a rescue that I picked up in 1993. A Lab Terrier mix and the smartest dog that I've ever encountered. At 10 weeks old it took 10 days to housebreak him and the total number of "accidents" during that time was 4. Last two times he looked me right in the eyes while taking a pee, obviously testing to confirm that was the Big NO.
Second is Oscar, who wandered into the shop at work one cold day in October 2008. He'd been abandoned and living "rough" for about 3 to 4 months judging by the length of his coat. Since I'd been without a dog for about 9 months at that point I was ready for a new dog and he's been great. Not sure what he is, Vet suspects Lassa Apso/Cocker. When his coat is grown out he looks like a giant Lassa Apso (24 lbs.) with a temperment typical for that breed. As in no fear whatsoever of much larger dogs and an excellent Alert Dog.

My wife and I love the wire haired. They are traditional dogs in Bavaria. You'll see them everywhere but hardly ever see a short hair there. Exactly opposite from here.
Got any new pics?

Looks like Zeb is giving you the old "weinerdog eye" there....a little suspicious of the camera?

Here's Joe, my best buddy pit bull mix, as a puppy. We just called him "the puppy" then. Check the "flying nun" ears!
As he grew, Joe got comfortable with us - and could find a place to sleep almost anywhere.
Here's my boy now, keeping vigil at the front door:
John

A pair of Yorkshire Terriers, 7 year old brother and sister.
I was in the basement taking photos and they were waiting at top of the steps to attack me.
Photo right after we brought them home

Nice dogs.
The only pups I have are RAT pups. Not rat terrier pups. Rat pups! i think I have shared a picture of Coda before. We've added Spanky and Wednesday to the rat mix but have no pictures yet.
Kept in a room where cats are not allowed.
