Smile Garage Clean Out Day

This has been a long time coming, I was lucky in that it rained twice cancelling the clean out,
This is the dredded third bay, It has taken 8 years of overflow and it could take it no longer.
And I was interested in seeing what was in there.
Well The camera I used for the before shots went on the fritz, So I have only "During"
This pic is pretty much when everything was pulled out of )1( garage.

So we went through each and every box/bucket and bag, Organized and have a car full and a truck full of stiff going to local thrift shops.
After our Pizza lunch Eileen needed to rest for a few minutes, So we went over to the spare bench seat for the 89' Dodge and just relaxed while I kept organizing and putting thing where they belonged, Well I turned to see this and just had to laugh,
This is one of those times that I am really glad to have been able to get a pic before anything changed.

I love this woman, No matter what age brings on, She will always be a looker to me !
Eileen did see and approve this pic before posting,, She got a good laugh too.
Well everyone, Bite the bullet and clean that messy garage, It makes you feel good the day after.
Peter and Eileen.

I just recently did the same thing for my parents, the hoarders. They only had a double garage though. 40 years worth of junk mixed in with a few sentimental items, and some rare items of value.

It did feel good the day I finished it up for them, but a mere 2 months later, and you can't even tell I pulled anything out of there. Truly depressing.

It's absolutely amazing what we accumulate over the years! When we sold our home in MI, we had a huge dumpster brought in. A basement and 2 car garage full of "stuff". Some valuable, some not. We filled the dumpster and left a lot of stuff for the new owners, a young couple. Left them a nice upright freezer, bikes, antique floor model Zenith radio in nice working condition, etc. They were happy to get the stuff! I'm one of those people who doesn't like to throw things away. "Never know when I might be able to use that." Family and friends wondered why I always kept the boxes for everything. My friends here know how much a box can add to the value of something years down the road! (If you can ever find it again!) Good luck with the cleaning. Too hot here for that. 92 yesterday and warmer today. Got my first sunburn of the year yesterday!

My mother died in 1993. Dad died in 2003. Dad got alzheimers right when I retired in 2000. Both were collectors and threw out nothing. Dad was stubborn, wouldnt move to california by me. At first he wouldnt move to assisted liveing. He had lost his drivers license and refused to move from the boonies in wisconsin. There wasnt a grocery store in 8 miles! It fell on me to try and straighten things out. I had to move in with him for 6 months to persuade him and clean up things for the upcomeing auction. It made stanford & son look desireable! I still had my house in california and had to fly and drive back and forth a lot of times too. At the time I was single and had taken a hard luck lady in to watch my house. It caused me huge and costly problems, she got cancer and died on me. It cost me well over 50K! It was the most trying time of my life.
Short version: I hauled trash every day. Finaly we had a big auction and outside of selling the car and house, I belive we netted aprox $4,500 s on a mountain of household goods and 70 years of accumilation. I figure it went for a nickle on the dollar of what used stores or antique dealers would have got!

That is a sick joke above.
There's not even any dust in there,
I dont think I would feel comfortable in that garage.
I will post another pic after I get back from the accountant.

Garages are for parking in not storing junk. Maybe it's just that I live in Michigan and don't want to scrape frost 300 days a year.
