Info needed on Salt Lake City Utah-------------------
I am going to see an old buddy that is in the hospital in Salt Lake City. I will be in SLC a couple of days and then south to the Mooab area. What should I "not" miss while I am there? I have never been to that area so any/or all info will be appreciated. Thanks

Any where you turn in the Moab area is another adventure. Arches NP is always a good call. Easy to get around and lots to see. Up the Colorado River is Fisher Towers; really nice drive; on the way is Negro Bill Cyn, a nice hike along a desert stream.. Down the Colorado River is Corona Arch. Easy Hike, dinosaur prints and indian rock art. Dead Horse Point SP is another keeper, and you can also catch the Island in the Sky district of Canyonlands NP.
Moab Brewery for chow and fresh brewed beer; tough to beat.
Have fun and bring sunscreen!

Welcome to the Red Iguana there are 3 locations. Once related to the Blue Iguana but better food. Closer to Tex-Mex than Californicated Mex.

Visit Arches, for sure, Canyonlands next, and if time permits, take a daylong raft trip on the upper (above Moab) reaches of the Rio Colorado. Assuming you'll be driving, you can drop south to see Monument Valley and/or many other points of interest enroute to I40

Capital Reef NP and then Canyonlands. Get into the back country!

Just north of SLC is Ogden.
The John Browning Museum, is there. It and the Train and a good vintage car museum are all in the same building.
It is worth a trip up there.
They also have a Cabellas south of SLC at Lehi.

If you have never been to a BIG cabelas store, this should be on your list. The largest one we have out west. I seem to hit it every time I am in SLC. Plan on an hour minumum if you like looking at mounted game of any kind.

In Moab, rent a dirt bike and see some sights. The White Rim Trail is a spectacular all-day ride, usually not technical except for a few stretches of sand. Lots of other trails in the area at all levels of difficulty.
