Vietnam Wall
probably known about by most, but for those who don't/didn't..........
Names of Vietnam War casualties by city and state www.VirtualWall.org
click on the state you want to check, scroll down to the city/town and click on it. There will be a list of names of those who's "home of record" is that town, along with other pertinent data about the service member.

First thing, I'd like to apologize for saying this.
I know you mean well, but this is one thread I hope just slips to the bottom and never returns.

I survived Vietnam combat through pure dumb luck and lost friends in that hellhole. The men and women whose names are on that wall must be remembered and honored as heroes.
I took a look and there are no names of people from my home town that I knew; glad for that.

9 from my little town of 15,000. 4 of whom I went to school with and one who was a good friend.
We need to remember these fine young men.

I understand the torture that many vets undergo when old wounds are opened. As painful as those memories are for some, how can we expect those who were never there or who weren't even born then, to remember and learn the lessons if we, who were there, don't pause once in a while and honor the memories of those who gave their all? We don't have to dwell on it every day, but with Memorial Day approaching, it is appropriate. Unfortunately some of our duties didn't end when we took off the uniform. I suppose it is a sacrifice that many of us will have to endure to the grave.
May God continue to hold the souls of our brothers and sisters, who went before, in the palm of his hand and may he give those of us left behind the strength to carry on and to honor their memory. Amen.

Thanks for posting, but I really cannot look at the post.
I saw the wall and I just could not take it. Way too many bad memories appeared.
Guess I am not as tough as I think.

I still have the POW/MIA bracelet for Major Richard Allee. I don't wear it anymore but I look at it every time I open my desk drawer as a reminder of the sacrifice made.

I have participated in Rolling Thunder on Memorial Day in DC for many years. The Wall on Memorial Day is the most emotional place ever.

I haven't been able to do the real Wall yet. I went to the moving Wall when it was around here, and almost lost it.
May 16th (Today, 1969) happened to fill a lot of spots on the Wall. Ten days that weren't fun. I don't need a wall to remind me of the good men who fought and died at Dong Ap Bia.
Thanks for the post though. People have to know.

My brother's name is on the Wall.
I was visiting DC once years ago. A wonderful day. With no plan to do so, my companion and I visited the Wall. I had to sit quietly for an hour afterward to recover my ability to move. I was overcome with emotion.
There were other names I knew on the wall. they and the thousands I didn't know multiplied that impact by the surviving family and friends of those names and then again by those names of the war's victims not on the stone panels.
The Virtual Wall has brought some comfort. I've met some of my brother's brothers in arms through postings. The world shrinks.

I never had the guts to visit the Wall, even the moving Wall, but my grandaughter went to DC and got me some rubbings of my comrads.
