My info shows the Model 56 ran from 1962 to 1963 and was a K frame 38 and no have never seen one. Odd they don't list a 57 as my older ones did.

Are you talking about the Blue Book of Gun Values? If so, and I don't mean to hi-jack your thread, but how accurate are the values given, as compared to prices realized? Thanks.

Dealers here all pull out the Blue Book when they value your trade in. Yet they're happy to show you current pricing on Gunbroker when you want a "price" on one of their used guns. This tells me pricing in the Blue Book a not realistic. I've got a 10 yr old BB that I use as a reference (not pricing) since most guns I buy are at least 30 yrs. old. S&N book is a big help with Smiths. I currently have the Colt DS bug, so BB is handy.

Both are in the 29th so just a mistake, which there seem to be a lot of. I guess understandable in such a big undertaking. GLG, I use it as a reference but the pricing is not accurate enough to be useful IMHO.

The other poster is right though. Dealers around here will pull it out and fondle it like it is the Holy Bible or some sacred tome. Drives me nuts.

I don't know if anyone can print an accurate gun value book right now, it seems that by the time the ink dries the prices have changed.

I used to use a Blue Book when I was dealing in the 80s, along with a Stoegers Gun Traders Guide. If I was selling I used the Blue Book, if I was buying I'd use the Stoegers. The Blue Books prices were pretty optimistic then.

well ,no person that I know ,could possibly "know" (let alone remember ALL the different information for ALL the different makes and models, so as "reference book", it will suffice..yes, out of date when its printed, and often, many prices are very 'regional', and one MUST look at and KNOW the conditions of values, ( pictured up front) and use this properly to even come close to any real values.......any and all the auction sites, throw these "market values" out the window, all you need is two drunks bidding on the same thing............folks "see" a high ( stupid) price and think their gun is worth the same...sorry

dant, are you suggesting that some bidders enthusiasm maybe fueled by imbibing in certain alcoholic beverages? That is an outrageous accusation and I personally take the Fifth.

You owe me a new keyboard as I just spit coffee all over mine.

You must shop at my local shop!

I usually go in there with Blue Book value as a "reference" and their reply is that the "Book" never sold anything" Then as you say, they pull up Gun Broken and try to use those inflated prices that have 0 zero bids on them.

I always blamed the auto bid-function. But they are probably drunk when they set the limits.
