Wilderness Belts...
Have had a 1 1/2 inch 5 stitch instructor's belt for some years now and it's still going strong..decided I needed a 1 /14 inch for my j-frame....went with the standard 3 stitch in OD green...glad I did..it's plenty stiff and holds the gun in nice and tight...my favorite feature though is the velcro....no holes to line up...just pull it to right where you want it and wala...anyone looking for decent gun belt at only 30 bucks should look into it...

Are they heavy enough to hold up a bigger gun than a j-frame?
Isn't the rig supposed to be able to turn into a rapelling outfit in a pinch?

Wilderness or anywhere else, Jim Beam is my belt of choice. The belt illustrated in Sip's post is their Frequent Flier model, or at least it has the same style buckle (the Frequent Flier has plastic rings that won't trip airport metal detectors, and I think they also offer a similar buckle in titanium for some reason...) Their Instructor belt has a different buckle that is touted as a safety device --- such as clipping on a safety line if you're assaulting a rooftop by riding on the skids of a chopper, etc., the sort of thing I've pretty much given up doing... I've got several of these belts, and with the five-stitch, they're plenty stiff to support a heavy gun, and with the three-stitch, perfect for J-frames and similar lightweight guns. The Wilderness(.com) also makes the wonderful Safepacker holster, and the Giles assault rifle sling, both well-designed and executed products.

Sip, you must have smaller waist than most of us Silverbacks, I have a hard time getting into a forty inch belt.I'd need a 3 inch belt to use for a pinkie ring !!!

JKC pretty much covered it...I could wear this belt with a heavier gun but my bigger gun holsters are all 1.5 so I use the Instructor belt...as you can see from the pic, the 1.25 is pretty thick for a nylon belt, yet thinner than most leather gun belts..

I've got 3 of the 5 stitch 1-1/4" belts. They'll work finr for carryin a heavier gun in an IWB holster. A heavier gun in an OWB holster tends to slide around a little on the belt.

I love the velcro. Girlfriend calls it a "guilt-free" belt because you don't need to let it out to the next hole when my taste for seefood (whatever food I see) gets the best of me.

I have two of their Instructor belts that have served me well for a couple of years. Good quality and durable. One useful tip....when the need comes to use a public restroom wearing a holster, take the belt end and double it back to the velcro to keep the belt and holster tight in the belt loops....prevents the holster from hitting the floor. Don't laugh.....it works!

I recently bought one of the instructors belts after seeing a pic of one worn by Sip, couldn't be happier. Might get one of those 1 1/4" belts as well.

Do it Mike...you won't regret it...btw, I went an inch shorter this time...I'm a 34" waist and use the 36" since they recommend 2 sizes larger which makes the velcro attach at the midpoint...but I found that the tongue sometimes interferes with the edge of my holster...I know I could just slide the buckle over to the left, but I took a shot and it worked out okay...the velcro grabs just over my front pocket now....

Voilą is a defective verb; its only conjugation is in the present indicative tense, even though it can appear in phrases that imply another tense. ;-}
