Default Were Pachmayr Presentation grips modeled after Jordan Troopers?

I was holding a pair of the Pachs in my hand today and comparing them to the Troopers.. they look so similar that I'm wondering if Pachmayr based them on the Troopers. Does anyone know the history behind these?

Aloha,

Can't answer that question, But, I have a set of plasstic Jordon Trooper made by Pachmayr. I like them, just a hair too large for my hands, but, they do work well.

I don't think so. I knew Bill Jordan, and he didn't mention it, for what that may be worth. And I mentioned liking the Pachmayr's. He preferred the smooth wood of his design, which let him adjust his grip in millisceonds as he drew and fired. He was both very fast and accurate.

What I have noticed is that the Pachmayrs resemble the feel of the standard (not target) Colt grip. Hold a New Service or Official Police and see if you sense a similarity.

I think Frank Pachmayr may have realized the worth of the Colt design and added a bit where it needed it. The oval shape is retained.

Those and the Presentation Compac for J-frames are probably my favorite revolver grips. I do have Grippers on a GP-100, and like them on that gun. But usually prefer the Presentation.

A pal put a nice set of Jordans on his M-29 with 6.5-inch barrel. (Probably a 29-1 or 2.) With full loads, the recoil effect was substantially reduced. With handloads throwing a 250 grain bullet at about 900 FPS, the gun was as soft as a .38.

AFAIK, the Pachmayr Presentations follow the old Mershon design, which was for fairly large hands. Pachmayr made them somewhat slimmer, and also made a smaller size for smaller hands.
