This question is for our friends across the sea. I have long played "straight rail" billiards, i.e., carom billiards. In America, three-cushion billiards predominates, and I play that, too.
Long story short, there is not always a billiard table available. There are snooker tables. I have an extra set of three billiard balls. I guess I can learn another game (I'm only 60).
I have read the rules on English Billiards on Wikipedia, and I think I understand them.
The question is: When a ball is "in balk," is it inside the "D" ring, or is it below the foot spot?
