Default Need some help with Explorer 7

Primary hard drive in my computer is having issues so I am running on the secondary drive which is bootable. Unfortunately, it won't connect at a dial up speed as fast as the primary ? ? ? and I've had to redo all my logins.

Problem is that it won't stay logged in here, in spite of checking "remember me" when logging in. It seems to happen about 5 to 10 minutes after logging in and clicking on a new forum message or sub forum. Obviously, I've got a setting knarled up. What is happening is that I get the "viewing as a Guest" message after a while when I click on a new link. Oddly enough it's not happening at other forums I visit.

BTW, browsing history is set to dump after 5 days and the cookie for the forum is present and active on the hard drive.

I was having the same problem until I upgraded to explorer 8.
Then the trouble went away. I am not very savvy about it.

Well, I rebooted the computer and it seems to have solved my problem. Now I have to figure out how to get the darned thing to reboot to the CDROM drive so I can format that second drive and re-install XP.

Whats really bothering me is that neither BIOS nor the boot menu seem to be working so that it will boot to something other than an installed hard drive and the setup for XP Pro won't allow me to specify a drive for installation.

I started having a slight issue with Win 7 while in Austin a couple weeks ago. On start up, as soon as the desktop came to life, I would get the Blue Screen Of Death with a fast paced error message, which then turned into a data dump followed by a reboot. It happened again several day later and when it happened a third time I was prepared and noted the gist of the error message. Turned out I needed to update and flash the bios - the bios flash program is available on the Microsoft website. You didn't exactly say your specific Win 7 problem and I guessed it might have been the same as mine.

I have no suggestions for the secondary drive issue.

I had problems with IE being unstable ("Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close . . . ") neatly all the time on my desktop at home and my daughter suggested downloading Firefox. I did so, and haven't looked back. Firefox is much faster, and wicked stable.

+1 I haven't used IE since downloading Firefox four years ago. It eliminates a lot of IE's problems plus it's free!
