I thinked I did the pooch...or maybe not
Backstory, yesterday we went to an area of WA renowned for apples, pears and peaches, along with german food and beer.
I bought a box (big box) of fresh, ripe peaches. So far so good.
I have so many peaches I decided to make a cobbler tonight. Well, in a moment of who knows what I thought my casserol dish was 6 qts and it is only 3qts. I didn't know that until after the peaches were sliced and prepped for the cobbler. So instead of 4 cups of sliced peaches I have closer to 8 or 9 cups.
Well, I decided to forge ahead anyhow and now have a huge peach cobbler in the oven in a 7qt dutch oven type pot.
I sure hope it works out, I will be having peach cobbler morning, noon and night for a few days.
I guess it could be worse, the peaches could have been sold out...that would have been very bad.
I have to figure out what is next, I still have 25 large peaches or so.

IMHO, there is no other fruit to compare to a fresh, ripe, peach!!
The ones in the stores around here, had to finish ripening while
traveling. Just not the same. Stopped at a roadside produce stand in California and had a REAL peach. Spoiled me forever! TACC1

You'll need a gallon of Blue Bell Vanilla Ice Cream to go with all that cobbler. Trust me-I'm an expert on stuff like this

As for the remaining 25....wash thoroughly and eat. Do not peel, do not slice, just eat em. They wouldnt last a week at my house!

Peaches?
Once upon a time…
A young man was tryin’ to make a go at farming. His aging father was doing his best to encourage his son to stay on the family farm and carry on.
But, times were tough and this young fellow’s first crop season was not going well at all. Heavy late spring rains had flooded out his tobacco crop, cut worms had destroyed his corn and the drought that followed didn’t allow much for a crop of hay.
Our young farmer was in a sad state of affairs…His father, in an effort to lift his son’s sprit and to encourage him to press on, suggested that he take a bushel basket down to the peach orchard. “Son, pick you up a basket of them peaches and carry them to town, sell ‘em and have yourself some pocket money.”
The farm boy started up the road with his bushel of peaches when he came upon the neighboring farmer’s grown daughter at their mailbox. As they spoke a greetin’ to one another,
She ask, “Where ya goin’ with that basket of pretty peaches?”
He replyed, “To Town.”
She, ”I really like peaches.”
He, “ Well, there ya go, here’s a nice one.”
To show her appreciation for his kindness, she kinda let the strap of that little sun dress slide off’n her shoulder. As they continued their visting, the young lady kept eyein’ that bushel basket, “You know them are sure nuff some nice peaches, if’n I had another one or two, I could make a cobbler I do believe.”
As our boy hands over the request, he notices the other strap has slid off as well, leaving the lass’s dress just barely clinging…Big tears welt up in the poor farm boy’s eyes, to the point of runnin’ down his sun burn cheeks.
“What’s wrong?” she asks with sincere concern.
“Oh, you don’t know what a year I’ve had, my tobacco got flooded out, didn’t make any corn or hay to speak of and now it's lookin' like I’m fixin’ to loss this here Peach Crop too!”

There is a huge peach orchard just u[p the road from me. I usually buy 30 pounds at a time. Eat them fresh till they approach over ripe status, then cut and freeze the rest.
There are 15 lbs on the counter right now awaiting the knife and freezer bags, but will buy more if I can find them. Sadly, the peach season is coming to a close.

peaches
Years ago we went for a ride in Michigan . we stopped at a peach farm and asked if they had any peaches , the farmer said that they had been harvested by a packing company but he had some that were too ripe for the company to buy .He explained that the buyer determined if to buy them by dropping the peaches from shoulder height,If they bounced he would pick the orchard if they didn't bounce he had no use for the crop as it would rot before they could process or sell them.We picked and ate peaches that day,My wife had never eaten a fresh picked peach before, just store-bought and didn't care for the taste of peaches untill she bit into the tree ripened peaches ,with the juice running down her arms she loved them

Hi:
One of my "Gun Toting" neighbor ladies sent over a fresh peach pie with black walnuts in the mix. WOW! That is GOOD! I never had black walnuts in a peach pie or cobbler before.
Fresh peach pie with a pot of fresh regular coffee. HEAVEN ON EARTH.
