Men don't have to accessorize...Do we?
Should men be required to accessorize?
We all know about the blue suit and brown shoes thing, right?
A wrist watch that keeps time is pretty much ok, right?
An ink pen that writes, no matter which bank or gas station it came from…is cool, right?
Well, the other evening I was a fixin’ to go to a dinner party with the Mrs., to honor someone I don’t even know all that well…
Look in closet, find black suit that still in the bag that it came from the cleaner sometime last year or the year before.
Smelled fine to me. Still fit pretty good, that is if’n I don’t try to button it.
Put on starched white shirt, hunt through dresser valet for one of them little springy button thingys that let’s ya chinch that collar button.
Why is it they always comes up short? Pick out a well worn tie that I like.
While diggin’ around, found a pair of gold tone dice cuff links and a cool lookin’ old handcuff tie tac.
Wipe off Sharkskin boots with wet washrag…Didn’t help much, but don’t look too bad.
Find matching pant and gun belt with real Gold buckles…
Go to safe and pick out nice Smith & Wesson revolver,
find a holster that not skint up to awful bad.
Look in mirrow, suck in gut a little…Man, I’m good to go.
I waltz in to the living room expecting a standing ovation at the very least.
And all I get is ‘The Look’…Followed by, “You’re not going to wear that, I hope!”
Gees, I thought it went with everything…
Su Amigo,
Dave

I recall an lady friend once remarking, with disapproval, that it seemed every man had a Harris Tweed jacket. My counter was that it was the equivilent of the little black dress. Goes with darn near anything.

At that remark I would have said " No I guess not" and removed the tie.

You accessorize just fine, everyone knows that a black rig is appropriate for a stainless revolver...

Ah, Dave, I think she felt that the S&W in the picture was too scratched up to have made a good impression. Anyway, something understated and more tasteful like this would have complemented yer gold dice cufflinks better:
I'm just sayin'. . .

According to the picture you only had 5 spare cartridges for a reload. That must have been her problem.

Durn, if Dave's rig don't pass muster, I'm in trouble.
I will say that Dave sent me a matching rig with all basket weave doin's.
He's makin' some pretty fine lookin' stuff these days.

You didn't mention putting a pocket protector in your shirt pocket to protect it from the wear and possible leaks of the ball point pen.

Well Dave, all that looks mighty stylish to me. Maybe you just didn't have enough ammo, or maybe this was a real serious shindig and you needed more gun(s)?

I Gotta Have Some Help Here...
Gentlemen,
Many thanks for all the fashion tips!
Your valued input is most appreciated in my time of need.
Got a 'thing' to go to Friday nite.
Wife requested that I be on my best behavior.
I don’t want a repeat of my last fashion Fo'pha, so as old Jack Knife would say, “Look sharp, feel sharp, ect, ect…”
Gotta lose the tie tac, ditched the striped tie, it was a little thread bare anyway, I guess.
Canned the cuff links. I guess when the nickel wears off’n them and the brass is over taken ‘em…Well they ain’t really pinto.
French cuffs just ain’t me anyways.
Upon reflection I guess the floral holster does clashes with a basket weave belt…
Broke clip on IWB holster trying to make another boot hideout…Just have to use ankle rig instead, won’t need reload for wheelgun.
Blue suit had a mustard stain from where I don’t remember, so the brown boots are out.
Although that would have look great with that there golden fiddlebacked Desert Eagle.
Only got one dress hat…Handmade natural silverbelly beaver, so can’t do nothing about that. ~Smiley~
So far this is the deal fer Friday nite.
I don’t want to mess this up.
It’s her birthday…
Su Amigo,
Dave

The belt, holster, and boots look like they match up well! What are the two guns? Hopefully they match the caliber of the event?

Do yourself a favor, just wear what your Wife tells you to.
That's what I do, I have NO taste in clothes. But you should see me at church on Sunday morning, I look good enough to bury. (I'm one of only a handful of guys in a suit). I put the clothes on. she dresses me.
Wish her a happy birthday from me.

That outfit looks really good, although I'd shoot a crow and put a nice feather in the hatband, that should really set it off.
You need to tell the missus that if she don't like that birthday suit you got laid out there, that you'll be glad to wear the one the good Lord gave you. Even if sitting on your concealed .44 special might get a little uncomfortable.

Don't know about the first outfit, but I'd be mighty proud to be seen with a distinguished looking gentleman such as yourself, dressed in that Friday night outfit! All that's missing is a dab or two of Hoppes #9!

Keep it simple;
Remember a Registered Magnum ..... goes with anything!!!!!!
Sports coat ... a nice 1911 with stag grips is always nice.
Though for more formal events I prefer a Browning HP with Spegel checkered wood or Ivory grips..........
But for the most formal of occasions......... might I suggest a simple but elegant...... Walther PPK

Lose the handcuffs, get a 1911 tie tac, and one of those fake hankie thingies from the dry cleaners is a must.

I would be SOL, all I have for fancy dress up clothes is a Firehose sports coat and a part of new jeans and brown shoes; a brown shoulder holster for my compact 1911 with cocoba stocks. If that is not good enough i could wear clean blue matching BVDs and white socks. Anyway dinner parties are supposed to be held in the back yard eating food you hold in your hands.

Lots of guys accessorize by putting on a "Bro" for their "Moobs" then grab their "Murse" and head out the door.

I think "Murse",,,,,, is short for "man-purse"...........so I'm just going to back away from this thread slowly!
