Another good beer/Fire day.
Gray day with no sun but mild temps and I had to go for it. So far HEB is keeping a good supply of fire wood and it is pretty reasonably priced. the wood is kiln dries and "easy to lite" according to the label on the bag. It seems to be a justified claim. You get 1 cu.yd. for about 7 bucks. I burn about one bag per fire. I spend a lot more on the beer per fire so I guess the wood is no big deal. The beer and the wood are both cheap at twice the price AFAIC.
Fire has always fascinated me. But lately I find it helps me deal with stress and I actually have at least one cathartic moment every time. The occasional moment of clarity is comforting. But today I had a thought that sort of depresses me. to paraphrase an old adage, "You can't have your beer and drink it too". That just ain't right.
For some reason I find that depressing. After all, who wants to run out of beer!?!?

That would be a fantastic bargain! There are 27 cubic feet in a cubic yard and 128 cubic feet in an entire Cord of firewood (4.3 Cubic Yards) I burnt 8 to 10 cords a year at the farm house; but my furnace never ran!
I assume you meant to say per cubic foot, which when I buy a bundle at the store for camping that is about normal but around here it is often green!

Ooopsie! Yeah I guess I should have stopped at 5. Just now feet and yards are all about the same thing. . thank you for setting me straight I hope I haven't started a run to HEB to get fire wood. I may be catching some flak soon if they did.
apologies in advance if needed. My bad. Some one once said: "never post when you've had a few". Guess that's good advice.

A friend of mine and I have a two person "Beer Club For Men". We brew our own. Every other month I get to pick the flavor of the month! I still prefer Imperial Russian Triple Bock! "It's as dark as a witch's heart and twice as strong!" Makes Guinness Export look like a lite beer! A beer drinking friend from Polish stock says: there is a loaf of black rye bread in every bottle! Actually just toasted barley, hops , spring water and love!

OMG! That Imperial Russian Triple Bock sounds killer. I Love the dark heavy beers. As far a Guinness Stout goes, to me, the first one tastes like drain cleaner but after that they are all delicious!!

I think I said the same thing when I had my first beer, July 4th 1963, age 7!
(I was at my friend Jonny's party, his dad made us stop at 2, but too late! I was in love with my "New Best Friend", Beer.)

I think I use to buy beer at HEB when I lived in San Antonio 49 years ago.
