Pet peeve
The worst one to me is;
''We're pregnant!''
It just drives me up the wall. And when two men proclaim it . . .

It is part of substandard English, irregardless of what some dictionaries say.

'long as we're rolling antique
I'll see your pet peeve and raise you my last nerve ending. What ever happened to "you're welcome"? Every time I thank someone, especially servers (you know, waiters) they reply: "No problem." Glad to hear it, wouldn't want YOU DOING YOUR JOB to be a problem...

Is "irregardless" a proper word? My college English professor kept marking thru the "ir" with a red pencil. I still use the word on occasion.
I looked it up in an on-line dictionary. My English prof was right. It is "non-standard". Definition is "regardless".

epj,
I regard "irregardless" as a mistake, regardless of what any dictionary says. That is why I used it in that particular sentence.

I like the cajan and when he speaks one should listen. The problem is this: the hoodrats have spoken. Enough said. Those hoodrats cause a lot of problems and the speaking of words is the first thing to go.

Doesn't really bother me. Not trying to disrespect you Gary. Maybe if I gift you a box of .22s when I see you.
I'm with Howie. My 31 year old son is still scared to say "My bad" around me.
What about text-ted. When did it stop being texted?

That one irritates me severely. But when I say "You're welcome," or "You're most welcome," younger people look at me with something between amusement and suspicion that I'm up to something. Older folks seem to appreciate it.
