how to remove paint from front sight
this must have been asked before but my search came up empty. My 1947 K22 is minty except for the red paint on the front sight. How can I get it off without harming the blue finish. It seems to be a very thin coat. I know acetone will remove a lot of things but I never tried it on paint.

Nail polish remover comes in two flavors these days, with and without acetone.
Don't ask how I know.

I've actually been able to get it off by soaking with Hoppes #9 and a little bit of scrubbing with a patch.
