Actress Mary Tyler Moore is dead
Mary Tyler Moore, the star of two of TV's best-loved sitcoms, has died.
Her publicist, Mara Buxbaum, says Moore died with her husband and friends nearby. She was 80.

She had diabetes for a long time, probably a contributing factor, but she still made it to 80.

Ah the good old days. I was in love with her, Jeanie and Samantha on Bewitched. It was a wonderful time to be a teenager, wear your pants around your waist and your ball cap with the brim facing forward.

I first saw her as a dancing elf on refrigerator ads in the late 50's. Now, the Dick Van Dyke show... I had it bad for her. And her TV Show was great. Very sorry she's gone. Another one of the people we grew up with.

I thought the Mary Tyler Moore Show was about as good a TV show as any. The mixture of Mary, Lou, Murray, Rhoda, Phyllis and Ted Baxter was perfect. Mary wasn't hard to look at either. Another great one gone, classy lady.
Boy does this make me feel old.

Yes, she will be missed. A very talented, unique and beautiful woman.
Another one of her co-stars is also amazing and never seems to age much..

Looks like a lot of us grew up with MTM. I was as much a fan as most. What a time in our history. Never to return, I fear.
RIP

R.I.P
We have lost so many great performers last year, and now Mary Tyler Moor.
She will be missed. And sadly, there are not that many current " talent " in the media.
Thank you,

she was just another Hollywood type.

The people that we grew up with watching TV....they are all dying. And we're right behind them.
I mean like, Annette Funicello. She's an extremely well developed teenager isn't she???

Truly, one thing about MTM is that she never flaunted herself, though a lot of us wouldn't mind a little flaunting.

Well, when your 24 year old son dies from a negligent discharge of a Snake Charmer shotgun (which I've seen incorrectly portrayed in stories about his death as a "sawed off" shotgun, and further incorrectly described as being taken off the market due to its "hair trigger."), you're gonna have a dim view of the firearms industry.
As for MTM, a great actress who was lucky enough to be surrounded by other iconic actors and actresses in both of her successful television series. Truth be told, I thought she was already dead . . .

I think that any parent that loses a child for whatever reason just might react negatively towards the apparent cause. Be that drunk drivers, a shotgun or a war in the dessert somewhere.
There can be no greater loss for a parent than that of a child.
He's dead, she's dead, how about we let her rest in peace.

Maybe you should do just a little research. She was described by her friends as being a libertarian centrist and liked to watch Fox News. She especially liked Bill O' Reilly and Charles Krauthammer. Not exactly what you would expect to hear about a "Hollywood leftist."

Good characters and great writing benefited her talents.
Lost track, sorry to hear of her passing.
Just seem to recall Ms. Moore, Julie Andrews and Carol Burnett from that era even as a kid I could see and appreciate the talent they brought to whatever it was they tried.

I always thought there was a genuine wholesomeness in her characters that came across as something special beyond that of acting. I've heard it said that Mary Tyler Moore was America's sweetheart. I think that well fits.
Rest in peace.

I too had a big crush on her in the early 60's, she was very talented and had great comedic timing. I never heard anything bad about her personal life either, and she never felt the need to run her mouth about politics when she was accepting several Emmy awards. She showed that she was a lady of grace and class, something that has been missing from Hollywood types for many many years now.
She will be missed, and her performances will continue to delight fans for a long time to come.
