Smile S&W Long Action verus Short Action

What year did S&W change the "K" Frames from "Long Action" to "Short Action"?
Internally what is the differences in the Hammers and Triggers?
Thanks,
Jimmy

The transitional period was approximately 1947-48. The differences in the hammer and trigger were very slight although the parts are not interchangeable. The most noticeable change is in the position of the hammer stud and stud hole position in the hammer.
