Thank you.

Everyone who has not seen it should go out and rent or buy this DVD. Probably the best work of Kevin Bacon, it is a great movie and I am a tough movie critic.

Damn, that was a 3 hanky read. My son attended the loading of number of fellow Marines onto planes back to the states while in A'stan and Iraq. One thing that alway impressed him was
the gathering of troops from every allied nation involved, no matter the nationality of the fallen warrior.

He has also helped deliver the sad news to families in the states.

I can't think a harder task or a higher honor than helping the families through the ordeal of a lost service member.

Thanks for posting. That link is getting a lot of mileage today.

Taking Chance (TV 2009) - IMDb

The DVD or Movie "Taking Chance" has made hardened Marines and old Soldiers cry. It is a very tastfully, very respectfully story of a fallen hero going home.

I learned a lesson a long time ago from a Old Coast Guard Warrent Officer 4. He said, "There are only two times when a soldier can cry. Extreme Sadness and Extreme Pride!" Life has taught me that he was a very wise man.

I hope we never lose sight of the sacrifices that are made by our military and their families everyday. Some of the sacrifices are extreme to say the least.
My uncle was charged with notifying the next of kin while he was in the military. He said it was very draining emotionally and he was proud that he could be of some comfort to the families involved.
God bless our troops.

One friend wrote me back and said "Its a good story but it looks like photo shop."

I'll think on it because it kinda does look off but it doesn't matter.

I sent the link to this story to a hardened old Marine combat veteran friend of mine named Rocky - as full of grit as his name. He wrote back "Thank you and damn you, John." He said he couldn't quit crying.

The cost in lives and grief for our overseas quarrels is very high. I hope that someday history will record that it has been worth it. Our service men and women should never die in vain. May God bless and keep them and their families.

John
