Specialist 4th Class, U.S. Army writer/photographer, lst Battle Group, 20th Infantry, 1958 - 1961, Regular Army. I worked out of a Battle Group headquarters for Field Grade Officers. They had all served in WW2 and Korea. It was an honor and a privilege to work for them. They knew how to treat an enlisted man, but don't think you still didn't have to stand tall, look sharp and do your duty. I would have done anything they asked of me. They were great Officers.

I didn't expect this thread to go this far and am enjoying every post. Thus far it has been running 75% on the average enlisted.I've noticed also we have a bunch of aviation folks from all branches and ranks.Interesting.It does say a lot about the forum members here.
Thanks for reading and taking part to all.Keep them coming. There's so many other statistics in here when you think about it.

U.S. Army Brat 1953-1968. Made money at age 5. $.25 per shoe spit shined for inspection and $1.00 for brass and not just from my dad but other sergeants that lived near us.
United States Navy -1968-1972- Enlisted Man so I worked for a living. Aviation Electronics Technician A-7 Corsair II models A, B and E. VA174 training squadron, July 1969-August 1971. Attack Squadron VA-46 1971-September 15, 1972. Had a division Zero whose first name was Commodore. Not his rank his NAME. You can bet what he was like since one of his ancestors was a big shot in the war of 1812 and another was first American into Tokyo bay.
Plus I got to work on some stuff that if it went off, it would make a big boom and a hole in the water about a mile wide along with a mushroom shape cloud.

Technically one would address me as Mr. Harney. Just don't call me late for chow of tell me about a critical mission 15 minutes before it starts. The guys on the ground don't expect me to be late and I sure as hell don't want to be late picking them up. Call me Tom, or sir, or whatever. It's not all that important to a WO. It's all about the grunts.
