April 6th is designated as Tartan Day in the US in honour of the role that Scottish Americans played in the develpment of our Nation. The date was chosen because it was on April 6, 1320, that the Declaration of Arbroath was signed. Our Declaration of Independence was based on it.

Here in Texas there is a ceremony at the Alamo each year on Tartan Day honouring the Scots and Scottish-Americans who gave their lives at the Alamo. It's quite moving, especially for us Texans.

Thanks for sharing, Celtic Sire.

FWIW...It's also quite moving for us Tennesseans as well; since Crockett and his doomed band of Mountain men where most all from Tennessee.
They all volunteered to travel to the Texas territory to help win independence from Santa Ana and Mexico.
