The Stanley Cup
Remains In The Good Old USA
Boston, Massachusetts
Timmy

I understand the Bruins have great security in Vancouver to assure their well being.

Maybe Mark Recchi's last game, what a way to go out
.

Strato, you are now allowed to call him Timmy, common say it for the boys.

Congratulations Boston. You deserved to win. You controlled the boards and kept your physical game in check. Good Job.

Default Lord Stanley's Cup

How did the first kiss of Lord Stanley's Cup taste?
Sweeter than wine?
How many of these games were shut outs? Must be some kind of record.
I'm hoping that some of you Boston guys post a photo or two of the parade.

I can't belive that this all started back in October. It seems like so long ago. All those teams and all those games and it comes down to one game takes it all. It was a battle of wills with some bangs and bumps along the way. They are all in physical pain right now but they will all be ready to do it again in a few short months. This is the greatest sport in the world.

Come on October. I'm ready for another great season.

Mike, you would have loved watching it, the Bruins played a perfect game, and no need to mention Thomas, MVP/Stanley Cup and definitely the Vezina. I think he is a pretty good goalie, most important a really mild mannered perfect gentleman.

Waited a long time but I got to see it, it is great.

Just on the news, I guess they have big problems with the fans in Vancouver. In Boston they had to deal with the crowd but did so without too many problems.

I think 3 shutouts Luongo 2 Thomas 1

Wow! Just WOW!!!

I do believe that Boston/NE is the only city to win a Stanley Cup, a World Series, a Superbowl, and an NBA Championship in a 10 year span.

Heard that stat somewhere along the line tonight.

The Bruins played their hearts out, and deserve to be called Champions!

These aren't fans, but criminals and hoodlums that have brought shame on the game of Hockey and the City of Vancouver. Vancouver Police have called in the RCMP and the Abbotsford Police for help. Unbelieveable!! They need to bring out the fire trucks and hose these morons down. Disgusting finish to what should be a Grand Event . . .

Crikey mate, must be time for another walkabout

It was a great series to watch even without a dog in the fight. The Bruins deserve it. They played hard and steady and in the end they broke through Luongo on his ice while Timmy performed like you would expect a good ole Michigan boy to.

Congradulations to the Bruins and their fans and yes even the labmeister

Only my opinion.

The first thing the Canucks should do is fire the entire coaching staff, and redesign those boring uniforms, that thing with the hockey stick looks like some sort of rest room sign.

The Canucks were a high scoring finesse team, the coach decided to play a physical series with (out of all teams in the NHL) the Boston Bruins who are known for this type of play. Huge mistake.

At this point they reduced their offensive ability by at least 50% and it cost them the series.

Very classless organization, and the arrogance was beyond belief.

Never underestimate your opponent, Vancouver. You guys just ran out of excuses. A close second, not second but a close second, your words.

I have added the Tampa Bay Lightning to my list of favorites, truly a great organization, from the owner down to every player. Floridians, maybe next year. Had to run out this morning to buy 4 copies of the Boston Globe and 4 of the Boston Herald, per order of family in Sarasota.

The folks in Boston are really enjoying this Stanley Cup win. USA USA USA The Duck boats are lining up for our celebration, and the parade date will soon be announced.

Can someone tell me what the Canucks fan were loudly chanting at the end of the game? Were they booing the Bruins during the ceremony when they received the cup? Are Vancouver fans mean to opposing teams? Just curious. Congrats to Bruin fans. You can keep the cup in America.

Wish I knew what they were chanting, but couldn't make it out.

When they lose, they go to their Encyclopedia of Excuses, the rest of us, "We lost because we were outplayed" All you have to do is listen to their comments after the game.

I think for a while they were chanting "Bruins S**k" and "Thomas S**ks" and they were booing the cup presentation. Very classless. The people of Canada are better than that. At least most of them are.

Default Lord Stanley's Cup

What a shame that Vancouver's fans could not be polite to the Bruins.
Worse though is the way the crowd rioted after the game. Looting and burning proves what? That they are poor losers. Maybe the NHL could/should punish the team in some way that would also hit the fans?

Grumpy 'cause my boss doesn't have the right outlook on Hockey. It should be excused absence from work to watch playoff games.

First off. . . congratulations to he Bruins and to all the Boston Fans . . Very Well Done!

Be easy on all the negativity towards the Canucks team and their coaching staff. The Bruins did a fine job of figuring out how the Canucks worked and slowing them down. It took a few games to do it, but the Bruins prevailed. Tim Thomas was exceptional and the Canuck Fans gave Tim a Standing Ovation and a cheer.

The destruction, burning and looting was not done by Canuck Fans but by hoodlums and criminals that went there for that purpose. The City was warned this would happen and allowed it to get out of control. I believe it would have happened, win or lose. The same destruction happened at the G20 Summit last summer in Toronto. This is a product of allowing . . "little Johnny to express himself" . . instead of kicking his ***** right off the hop.

The responsibilty and blame lies at the feet of the City of Vancouver Police Chief, and the Mayor. If they would have had the fire trucks onsite, hooked up in plain view and ready to hose down those hoodlums and criminals this could have been stopped before it started. Now all the good will and fine exposure that Vancouver earned from the 2010 Winter Olympics is gone and what remains in the minds of the world is what took place after the Stanley Cup Final.

What also remains to be known is if the Police will track these criminals down and haul their *****es to court and to jail and if they'll be made to pay and pay until the cost are recouped. What a shameful event that took place.

.

No negativity intended but the Canucks didn't play their game. They tried to match the Bruins game and they didn't have the abilty to do that over a long series. Maybe they were just too beat up but they are stronger with their speed and skill. The Bruins are more physical. The Canucks tried to play both ways and it proved too much. The Bruins just wore them down.

As far as the idiots in the streets, I agree. They were only out to cause trouble. We had the same thing in Seattle a few years ago with the WTO. Some of them were interviewed and didn't even know what the WTO was. It was just an excuse to "have some fun". They should be made to pay one way or the other. Vancouver is a better city then that.

Well, this was no racial riot last night but a blattant destructuion of public and private property. There's a whack of volenteers and store front business folks trying to get back on their feet from this rampage.

I was there in the City of Vancouver, quite a few years back, when a Grey Cup Game on the street celebration got carried away and out of hand. When damage and destruction began, so did the fire hoses. Soaking those hoodlums down took the wind out of their sails immediately. Talk about a sorry ***** bunch of rag-a-muffins staggering around soaking wet.

I sure wasn't implying Bull Connor tactics and don't appreciate if any parallels to that effect are implied, but I witnessed the positive results of fire hosing down morons like we saw last night. My sympathy goes out to the store front businesses and the taxpayer and none to those whose committed the crimes.

I agree . . the Canucks were so intent on scoring they fell asleep infront of their goal. The first Bruin goal was a prime example. They played very aggressively prior to that and let a shot like that in. I bet Luongo wished he'd of swatted that puck aside instead of holding for a face-off.

It was a great series and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The players on both teams congratulated each other at the finish and the fans gave Tim Thomas a standing ovation for a job well done. I refuse to let the post game destruction spoil it. It's a shame people can't behave.

I've been a Canucks fan for over 20 years now, and have to say it isn't easy not being a fan of the "home team" especially in New England. I don't expect the negativity towards the Canucks to decrease, especially after going through Super Bowl XXXIX, when the Patriots beat my Eagles. I give New England fans credit for die hard support is commendable, but the hypocracy I experienced regarding both the Eagles & Canucks who have never won a Championship title. While listening to the same fans whining about the Red Sox not winning in 87 years is a little hard to swallow.

Will everyone stop whining

It's official, the victory parade will be held this Saturday June 18 in downtown Boston.

If it was Friday I would have definitely attended, Saturday no thanks, huge groups of people I stay away from, no matter what city, state or country.

Here are the pictures of the front pages of the two major newspapers in Boston. Some of you fans may enjoy.

I had to purchase 4 copies of each this morning, my niece, nephew and sister in Sarasota are going to place them in some sort of frame and display them. Sometimes it takes a long time to enjoy these moments.

I do have to quit posting.

Just got home from Vancouver late last night, awesome game, and very glad to be there to see the Bs win it! Overall, the Canuck fans were very nice. The rioting was done primarily by young street hoods, not the 'fans'. It was definitely an adventure getting back to the hotel after the game, as the streets were shut down, and we had to walk through the melée... I even had to take my Bruins cap off, after a couple of nasty confrontations; good times...! I had one drunk guy try to give me some lip inside the arena, but he backed off pretty quick when he realized I was not in the mood for it...

Back at the hotel, and the next day, we had dozens of people come up to us (because they saw our Bruins gear) and apologize for the rioting/behavior of some of the residents of Vancouver. The consistent message I got from people was that they did not want us to think that that behavior was representative of their city, they were embarrassed by it... I continually noted how the folks up there take pride in being gracious, and being polite. Even inside the arena, after the game, many people came up to us and shook our hands to congratulate us on the win. The people of Vancouver are very classy and welcoming folks. I can guarantee they were much more polite than the Boston fans would have been...

Many fans inside the arena warned us to be careful after the game, even the police stopped us and told us not to be on foot outside; they knew there were going to be problems from certain elements of the city. What a lot of people don't realize is that the Cup Finals is bigger in Canada than the Super Bowl is in the US. The city was literally filled with people that came in town just to be near the event. It was really something else. BTW, Vancouver is an absolutely beautiful city. I've been all over, and this is one of the nicest cities I've visited.

It was a bummer having to be in their house for the win... The fans were bad when they booed during the cup presentation, and giving Bettman an especially rough dose of ill-will (don't really blame them, though...). He just missed having a drink hit his head! There were a lot of cheers for Thomas.

Overall, a very memorable experience, and feel very fortunate to have seen both game 6 and 7 of the finals, and to see the Bs pull it off was very cool. Been a very busy week!

dmar, Glad you had the opportunity to see the final game. Must have been pretty thrilling to be in the arena. Glad to hear a positive report on Canuck fans. The whole throwing drinks absolutely baffles me. I was at a Patriots pre-season game, yes I said pre-season, and I saw 2 Patriots fan's throw cups with beer at a Buccaneer's fan who was just standing up cheering for his team. He wasn't even saying anything bad about the Patriots. Crazy.

Congratulations to the Bruins!!! I watched them do it the last time so it's been a long dry spell. Thank God that our Canadians beat their Canadians...

Funny, and true. I think Tim Thomas is the only guy from the USA on the Bruins... I think beating Montreal was almost as satisfying as winning the Cup.

It turned out to be a beautiful day weather wise, 80 degrees, no humidity.

A huge crowd in Boston, I guess very well behaved.

The route started at the TD Bank North Garden (Boston Garden) then ended at the same place.

A lot of the players live in the North End which is only a few blocks from the garden.
So a lot of them just walked home except Chara, he came out on his bicycle, the crowd went wild, you can imagine how he looked on a bicycle.

Chara, who we very rarely see smile, looked like the cheshire cat throughout the parade, at one point he got off the duck boat and let some fans touch and hold the cup, which was really nice.

A really great down to earth group of guys, blue collar all the way.

Overall a really nice day in Boston.
