There really is not many good shows on TV but there certainly is a lot of junk.

So what shows by genre do you think are the worst? I dislike any so called reality TV shows, they are all horrible so I can not really vote on them.

For most popular worst Cop show, I am going with CSI Miami.Just so lame beyond belief.
But I do like the original NCIS

Reality shows seem to be taking over network Tv. I can't stand to watch them. It's 50 minutes of drama and 5 minutes of reality.

I must include Top Shot in this same league.

About the only Cop Show I watch anymore is NCIS. While it too has it's monents I generaly really enjoy watching it.

The only two channels we watch 90% of the time is fox news followed by the horse oppera channel. Once in awhile I like the history channel if my wife is doing something outside. She likes those home decorateing channels that I hate! I really liked those few weeks of bush pilot in alaska channel.

IMO, it's a tossup between American Idol and Biggest Losers. CSI Miami has also jump way off the rails but at least it has a bit of eye candy worth looking at.

Favorites are NCIS and Blue Bloods but also like CSI NY just because I think that Anna Belnap is so darned cute. Also like Bones a lot just because of the science angle and because Bones carries a wheelgun. BTW, just loved the episode with the 4 inch 500 Magnum.

I like Justified, NCIS, CSI and after a year I'm warming up to NCIS LA.
Mostly, I hang out at the History channel when in the mood for television.
I despise the so-call reality shows.

I like Pawn Stars, Axe Men, Mythbusters, Top Shot was kind of iffy this season. My favorite tv show is Doctor Who. I like Blue Bloods and NCIS.

I hate Kate Plus 8 (she's just in it for the money), American Idol, Survivor, anything on Lifetime TV. PLease tell me when Charlie Sheen is gone.

Nothing much worth watching anymore. We refuse to watch ANY show that relies on canned laughter to be "funny", and the silly reality shows. It's the history channel or nothing for me.

Are you saying I should give it another shot? I quit part way through the first episode because there was zero chemistry between the main characters.

I'll second the reality shows as having gone way, way, way past their 15 minutes of fame.

Reality anything, music contest anything. Sitcom anything. Anything about what you wear or how you decorate, and a lot about the food contests. Cake boss...REALLY? I'll show you a boss cake--I'm the cake boss. I have the back end to prove it.

There are only two shows running now that I watch regularly; those are Chicago Code and The Event.

The one show I cannot even be in the same room with is Grey's Anatomy. Just my luck my wife loves it. Not only is it a rotten show, in my opinion, but the background music they play really get's my goat for some reason and I cannot tune it out like I can most anything else.

I personally don't watch much TV but my wife watchs that show about people hoarding junk in their homes.
I think it's pitiful that people who have issues are exploited as entertainment.

I love "Archer" because my sense of humor is that warped. I used to like "Supernatural" when it was the Winchester brothers hunting monsters but then they had to go hunt the devil and it got too full of itself.

Oh, I forgot, I love American Pickers...and sometimes I catch Pawn Stars and Sons of Guns.

We have an program wich called "Oh Oh Tirol" It is what I hear competible with Jersey store.

I hate it becouse the loosers in that show are a rolmodel for other kids.

Anyhow I am at the moment not happy at all with the current attatude of the most of the joungers today. But I am 52 and live under a rock an do know nothing of life.

Standing knight, do you mean the one from the 1950s with broderick crawford as dan matthews? I didnt know that was on. It was a favorite.
I knew him briefly many years ago when I was a guard at the studios. I didnt like his brusque ways and overbearing manner before I met him, but with me he was friendly.

For the most part I can agree with what's been posted here. I don't think Fringe has been mentioned. I love that show, John Noble (Walter Bishop) is a hoot.
However I don't understand all the hostility for American Idol. It's not a favorite of mine but I watch because my wife likes it. Kids compete for a recording contract and the public votes for their favorites. What's so terrible about that?

Yep...the one and only! I loved those old cars! Mr. Crawford and his show was the reason I became interested in the Highway Patrol and why when I got out of service I hightailed over to the Texas DPS recruiter...unfortunately, the issues I have with color vision killed all hopes of any LEO career.

The shows are on Hulu. Still good after over 50 years.

I not only saw Mr. Crawford in Highway Patrol, but in a few movies and other TV shows..he did strike me as a (censored). Even in Highway Patrol, Matthews was kind of a smart aleck.

Like all of the "remakes" and "revamps" they seem to do these days, I hope they leave Highway Patrol and a lot of those old shows in their time of history.

Standing knight. When I met crawford I asked him about the pilot he flew with occasionaly in a helicopter on his series. The pilot gave me my first ride as a fire fighter in yosemite in 1961. Crawford told me he had crashed and got killed in a fire.
My aunt`s husbands brother was inspector herbert null who headed up the chp durring the same period in southern california. Later he was 2nd in command or (assistant chief??) in the entire state. I have lost touch with him, if he is alive he would be 95 to a 100 by now! He pretty much had the posistion that crawford portrayed.

I like the Lock-up and caught on camera shows.

Thanks to On Demand I can catch the few that I do like.

American Pickers continues to cheer me on, and there is a new "American Restorers" that spun off Pawn Stars. While it hasn't hit it's pace yet he's got an interesting gig going.
I about crapped on the Ice Truckers driving over the dirt trails on the 18000' levels with roadbed falling into the valley. Couldn't take much of that.

Liked the "Best Tank Battles" series but the seem to have put the bulk of the Military Channel on Premium now so I don't catch it.

The wife catches all those paint channel, doctor/murder/lawyer things I can NOT stand any of 'em.

Don't care to watch sing/dance/vote/have a public break down style programming.

I visit of a lot of BB forums and read a lot of odd internet stuff. Since I have a visual flaw that is magnified by printed media, electronic mediation helps my little vision glitch. A lot.

Any local newscast is easily the worst show on television, in my opinion. Journalists, particularly broadcast journalists, are usually the least educated people on any topic about which they must speak. You figure this out when they occasionally have to talk about something in which you are expert. They mucker it up so badly that you (rightfully) wonder "What else do they screw up?" The answer is: everything. You should believe nothing that a local newscaster tells you, because they say nothing believable.

But the second reason that local newscasts are so worthless is that they spend half their time telling me they "are on my side" or even "what you need to know". Puh-LEEZE. You turkeys say nothing that I need to know, and if I need to know it, I can read it on the internet at 10x the speed, and at least twice the detail, as you'll tell me.

Can you tell I really hate local news? My father-in-law just gobbles it up, and can't understand why I'm laughing in mocking derision most of the way through the "program". This strikes me as mostly a generational thing. He always got the news by watching it on TV. My generation reads it on the internet. I'll freely grant that your BS detector must be even more finely tuned for content on the internet than on TV, but this is only because TV news is mostly BS and it's easy to spot: whenever their lips are moving.

Beyond that, I hate American Idol, Biggest Loser, Survivor, What Not to Wear, and any other "reality" show that my wife laps up. At least she doesn't watch MTV anymore. "Sex for your kids, by your kids, on your kids" is not good programming, in my opinion.

I also think the History Channel and Discovery have gone down hill big time. Some of what they show may be entertaining, but history it's not.

Seinfeld is the greatest show that's ever been on TV. Period.

After that, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Entourage, Bored to Death, Malcolm in the Middle, How I Met Your Mother, and my current favorite, Breaking Bad.

I also like "Classic Albums" on VH1C when it's about one of my favorites, like Deep Purple's Machine Head, or Dark Side of the Moon.

I don't watch sports (only live Mariner games!), and I'd rather eat broken glass than watch any reality show or televised poker.

There are very few programs I enjoy any more...I mainly watch movies. I do watch "Dancing with the Stars" although each season, the "stars" become a little less luminary. Still, what's not to like about women with great bodies dancing in skimpy costumes?

I think "The Big Bang Theory" is funny. I like shows like "Pawn Stars" but I can't stand those repo shows, or shows like Maury where everyone is screaming about who slept with who and who is the father of what. I really like the science oriented programs, like Morgan Freeman's "Through the Wormhole" as an example. I also like "Sons of Anarchy" as a drama, not as a realistic portrayal of bikers.

The worst show IMHO is 'Sons of Guns'. His "inventions" have been available off the shelf from other mfg.s for 40 years. The only good thing is that most of the guns he butchers are AKs. I have given up watching this thing as my screaming at the TV scares the guy next door.
There is a show about a pawn shop in Detroit I find refreshing. The owner is a greasy sleazeball who tries to cheat everyone that comes in the door.

Anything with a laugh track. Try this experiment.

Pick a sitcom you regularly view, preferably an episode you've seen several times. This cuts down on the distraction of the "plot".

Listen closely - not to the dialogue but to the laugh track. It takes a degree of concentration to stay with it.

Hee-hee-hee, haw-haw-haw. Aaaawwww!!! Tee-hee... Ooooohhhhh. It's constant. Always there, in the background. Never ends.

It's telling you what is funny, how funny it is and exactly when to react.

Subliminal as all get-out, ain't it?!


My wife and I were active in ballroom dancing for several years (Salsa) and didn't miss an episode of DWTS the first and second season. After that, it turned onto "Dancing With the Celebrity Lookie-Lou's and Rehabs" so we gave it up.

What could be better than "Parking Wars"??

I don't watch any network sitcom. I hate a lot of programming. Amer. Idol, Biggest losers, DWTS, Kate anything, anything with loggers, truck drivers, gold miners, or real housewives, any cooking show about cakes, Joy Behar, Rachel Madcow, Geraldo, Dog, O'Reilly, and just about any show that gets run over 4 times a week.

Oh, and I forgot any show on the History Channel about UFOs, especially the ones about God being an alien.

If I want to see "reality" TV--I'll watch a ballgame. For me, you can scratch anything reality based, and one thing I hate is when people (lowest common denominator folks) cuss and swear as tho' they don't know they're on TV. Why would ANYONE know (or care) who they were if NOT for TV?!
I mostly watch cable movies, very little network TV. I DO like very much the Simpsons, King of the Hill, SNL, and a good % of the hunting, fishing shows. I don't have much interest in LM bass fishing or turkey hunting. Those are 2 things I do little of, so am not curious about. Also caribou. I've never seen one and don't expect to.
I don't think my tastes differ too much from most on this question. I have relatives who seem to crave reality shows, but I think other people's business is theirs alone, and we shouldn't make heroes out of those who utterly don't deserve it. Soldiers, law enforcement officers, teachers, firemen--they're the true heroes, for me. Take them away and we have a MUCH more classless society. People like "Snookie" won't appear as the 2-legged trash they truly are.
I hope I didn't overstate my position, but, as I said, most network TV rubs me entirely the wrong way. And, Hollywood--don't get me started...!!

I can't watch anything with a laugh track. All sitcoms are junk. But the ones that portray the man of the house as a complete idiot and wimp and the woman of the house the leader are totally Hollywood brainwashing. I watch only reality TV which is rarely true. You Tube for me most of the time. Documentaries are fine.

My wife turns on the TV and I try to stick it out. But she likes reality shows like The Amazing Race and Survivor. The Golden Batchelor made me throw up in my mouth. She also likes game shows. Like all of them. Lately I find her watching the 1990's Newlywed Game. In our current offerings she somehow found a channel that reruns every game show ever filmed, 24/7. Plus there's always the never ending Family Feud. I disappear and go visit my Dillon.

Anything I put on she picks up her phone and she's gone. Though she's usually down for a modern-made western. We are TV-incompatible.
